max number of points on licence

Got caught again last night :( 69 in a 60 so another 3 points... I already have 9 points . does that mean a ban?
thought it was 12 but I have been told by a m8 that it is 9 or more?

totally p@ssed off ....

Rob

edited as just realised i have 9 already not the 6 points :(:(:(

Its 12

Senior_AP 16 August 2004 09:51 AM

9 is the cliffhanger. 3 more and you get a ban.

tracktime 16 August 2004 09:56 AM

so  its 12 or more so effectively if you have 9 then next time its bye bye driving for how long?

only seem to be caught just above the limit..

41 in 30 ( worstt one)
70 in 60
48 in 40
now 69 in 60 all within 5 months .

got every speed check thingy on the market now :(

"got every speed check thingy on the market now"

try going under the limit!

davegtt 16 August 2004 09:59 AM

thats well unlucky to be caught that many times in recent times... :( if youve only been driving for 2 years then max is 6 points otherwise its 12 but there are ways around it, I know a couple of friends still driving around with 15 points

farmer1 16 August 2004 10:00 AM

You got two and a bit years of driving at a snails pace then?

tracktime 16 August 2004 10:00 AM

Yep your right :( Was trying too but seem to drift above. Must be my age :(
40 plus a bit :(

Rob

If what you say is true thats very unlucky, unless it was speed cameras that werent hidden then its just plain stupid.

You need an LRC-100 laser jammer it would seem. Rather than just detecting..

tracktime 16 August 2004 10:06 AM

....or you could obide by the law???

(I'm hypocritical btw). :D

paulr 16 August 2004 10:10 AM

Tracktime, was it a case of a hidden camera, mobile camera everytime or was it those big bright yellow things where if the limt is 40 you slow down to 40.

tracktime 16 August 2004 10:13 AM

big yellow thingy for one of them, but 41 in 30 mph i feel i was asking for that one as i was far to fast. :(

Then you've been very unlucky mate.

mark_h 16 August 2004 10:22 AM

You can have more than 12 points on your licence, it all depends when you got them!

Points stay on your licence for 4 years, but for totting up purposes (eg 12 points and you're out), they only count for 3 years.

tracktime 16 August 2004 10:25 AM

:) one bit of good news is that the oldest is over 3 years ,, had forgot about that one still i will have 9 in total....gulp

messiah 16 August 2004 11:08 AM

if you need your car for work then you may be allowed to keep your license. I'm on 11 at the mo so I'm walking a tightrope for another 3 years...

scoob north 16 August 2004 11:52 AM

ive also got 9 mate. little trick here what you can try is sending your licence away to change of address ,say if you live in your own house change the addy back to your mums this worked for me and i lost 6 points by doing this, the only thing was i moved in to a house from my mums

i still take it as i have 9 just in case but your insurance dont need to know because it isnt on your copy and thats all they ask for.

they prob have a database with all my points on but i dunno, i have 3 points on my licence now . so may be worth ago for some of you theres nothing to lose
