Rally Day Paddock incident..
 

Saw one of the big team (had X in the name) Rally-X teams try to speed up the paddock, and sideswipe the back bumper of an Evo. The offending Focus just continued going. Bloke gets out of Evo and runs after them.

Turns out they "didn't have time to stop" as they were needing to queue for track. Said "its a genuine mistake, can't see much in there" and made no offer of compensation for the guys bumper.

Don't know how they expect Joe public to drive sensibly in the paddock when the professionals make up their own rules.

To the Evo owner: Hope you get it sorted ok, you have my number if you need witness :)

Thats terrible.

I was turing into the evo paddock and daniel sola (wrc driver) came bombing down and cut right in front of me, i had to slam my brakes on to avoid the accident. To$$er!!! I was well pi$$ed and wanted to have a word with his antics but he dissappeared sharpish. They must think they are higher than anyone else and can do what they want. I couldnt believe he was doing this with all the peeps and kids about.

That car did a naughty NO NO undertaking on the left hand side, we have great footage of it too, not clever

Yeh i noticed that and said to the misses. He did it a few times. The poor cars he was overtaking didnt know where to go. No etiquette on or off the road by the seems. He should have been blacked flagged or something as he still has to abide by the rules like everyone else even though he is a skilled driver.

Sounds like the same kind of thing that happened to Hubs a couple of months ago at Castle Coombe, (only he was actually on the track) some plank in a Scooby cuts him up so Hubs has to avoid a smash and ends up spinning off into Barrier, car was seriously mangled (all better now and F***ing Horny as hell)(car not Hubs!) The moral of this story is.............. Take out track day insurance........... we didn't!!!"!!!!! cost Hubby thousands, new body, respray, mechanic to take apart and rebuild etc; etc;

Hope the poor guy had insurance!

We were at Combe yesterday and saw the Pug being taken away on the back of the truck, what an awful site, such a shame.

Wasn't the pug being taken away by the owner but it wasn't him who crashed it? I heard that he lent it to a mate who lent it to someone else :eek:

I don't know who was taking it away from Combe, I just saw it going out the gate on the back of a low loader. I heard that the car belonged to the boss of who ever was driving it. It's really strange how so many different stories get around

Some guy over on clubgti who was there yesterday had a chat to the guy taking it away I believe :( see here ;)

That's really bad news, I wouldn't like to be in those 2 shoes when the owner catches up with them, surely it's best to be unfront and honest, especially as he lent them the car

I find it shocking that the number of cars speeding throughout the day (obviously not on track) were able to get away with it! I myself took my little boy and although whenever he was walking we almost had our toes took off by a professional in a ford! and he wasn't driving fast just too close to all the people!
some people have no sense! :rolleyes: hope the chappy in the evo gets it all sorted!

I can see it from the drivers point of view. People just walking down the middle of the *road* when they are trying to get to their track sessions (professionals or not). I know of at least one driver who kindly brought his car along and then had to be somewhere else in the afternoon to qualify for an event. He for one was getting impatiant with the delays in the track sessions and then the rally stage.

I'm not trying to excuse the events that happened, but I can understand why some would be stressed etc.

Defo agree about people walking in the middle of the road and not moving. Stupid really when theres grass either side to walk on

I too noticed that the pedestrians preferred not too move off the road when a car was coming down to the paddock. It's just a bit of give and take really. The delay didn't help but they caught up pretty quick towards the end of the afternoon, I thought??
