School entrance dates

My 3rd kiddy is due on the 10th September but the way things are going I think he's gonna be here in the next week or two. What I want to know is if he's born before the 1st September will it affect when he enters school?

Either way he'll either be the oldest or the youngest in his year which could be a disadvantage / advantage ???

It really doesn't matter mate. Don't worry about it.

Yes it will, if he's born on 31st Aug, he will start school in the Sept after his 4th birthday but if he is born 1st Sept then he won't start school until the year following after chis 4th birthday, so he will in fact be 5 when he starts

Hope that helps.

u sure? my son was 4 on 1st aug but doesnt start full time school till next sep? in the mean time he does rising 5's i think?

psychologists reckon that generally kids who are among the oldest in their year have more confidence and are therefore at an advantage.

but its not like u can tell your woman to keep her legs closed and not give birth until after sept 1st.. so there aint a **** load u can do about it.

In NI, the entrance dates work around 31/07 and 01/08. When it comes to year seven assesment all the July and August kids get two bites at the cherry

Anyway - you have loads of sh1t to worry about first

< 6 months - Is he going to do the cot death thing
6 mths - 18 mths - will he ever walk?
9 mths - 24 mths - will he ever talk
10 mths - 60 mths - will he ever stop climbing on the furniture and shut up for 5 minutes?
10.000001 mths - 547 mths - will he always be this cheeky
10.000002 mths - 547 mths - I hope all those beating s wont hinder him n life

That surprises me!

I am pretty sure in what I am saying, I have put 3 kids through school myself and I work in a Primary School, that's how is works around here. It does all depend on each individual child also, as some special needs children may get deferred a year. The dates here are 31/8 and 1/9, it makes all the difference but they have to have a cut off date somewhere I suppose. It may vary slighty in different area's.

It will be the same as pensioners losing a week's pension if their 65th birthday falls on a Tuesday.
