Great Rock Singers

I can't really say I'm a fan , but I' ve got the DVDs & tonite I'm watchin THE CURE TRILOGY

my question is what singers can you listen to and it does not matter how crap the lyrics are or how bad the song is but it is the charisma and personality of the singer that keeps you listening and watching.

Marky-San 13 August 2004 11:34 PM

took me a while as it was a bloody good question!

for me........... Dave Lee Roth

Daryl 13 August 2004 11:45 PM

Yes I have Van Halen - Video Hits 1 first 3 songs
Jump
Panama
Hot for Teacher

Sammy was going to form a band with Neal Schon called Planet Us before the lure of the dollar and the VH reformation money got to him. Even though there was history with him and Neal in HSAS.
So Neal formed another band with Jeff Scott Soto called Soul Sirkus. Funnily enough Soul Sirkus were supposed to be suporting VH on thier upcoming US tour before Eddie cancelled thier involvement.
Neal is GOD and I am his 8astard son ( I wish)

edited coz I just woke up and remembered more

Daryl 14 August 2004 12:34 AM

Journey...saw them last year in San Francisco ;)

...and, yes Neal is God :)

unclebuck 14 August 2004 01:18 AM

Joe Cocker.... my babber!!

_Meridian_ 14 August 2004 08:31 AM

Geoff Tate
If you ignore the crass lyrics, Ronnie James Dio
Ian Gillan
For all that people take the p*ss, Meatloaf
Bruce Dickinson

But generally I prefer female singers, of whom the best is Margo Timmins. Also like Pat Benatar, Melissa Ethridge, Joanna Dean (a drink for anyone who as even heard of here), Patty Smyth (note spelling - Mrs John MacEnroe), Maire Brennan, Kate Bush, Ann Wilson, plus of course, Janis Joplin.

Freddie Mercury.

Anyone that can pull off a song called Radio "Ga Ga" and not be ridiculed is a legend. He was an incredible singer/entertainer.

The best imo.

David Lock 14 August 2004 11:26 AM

Don't forget Elvis...... He broke the mould after all.

Technically yes, he was a nobber, but thats a different thread altogether...... ;)

I just thought Queen on the whole were fantastic. He was an amazing singer and pioneered all sorts, the music "video" as well.

I respect him as an all time great.

Another vote for Dave Lee Roth but also David Coverdale, Graham Bonnet in his Rainbow days and if my ears are in the right mood Axel Rose

Kyl3cook 14 August 2004 04:31 PM

Rob Thomas has one of the best voices around today...plus his lyrics are probably the best....billboard songwriter of the year 2 years in a row...plus multi grammy winner. He wrote and sang 'smooth' with carlos santana

GaryCat 14 August 2004 06:18 PM

Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam

Favourite voices are

David Coverdale
Geoff Tate
Bon Scott
Steve Perry
Jeff Scott Soto
Blackie Lawless

For me they all have something that lends itself to the style of music they play.
