Vauxhall Mireva 1.7tdi - shite economy!

Got one of these beauties ;) whilst our Honda 1.8VTI is having a new set of locks and imobiliser (been burgled and the feckers stole the car keys, long story....) anyway, it is only getting about 28 MPG which is the same as the Honda FFS!

Yes - it had loads a torque, but a power band of 2-3.5K revs which makes overtaking interesting to say the least.

I am disappointed by its MPG, IMHO i would by a Diesel for the economy ands they are a bit more pokey but 28MPG from a Diesel and i am not exactly thrashing it everywhere, is a bit on the poor side.

A mate had a Golf GT TDI 150 which he reconed averaged 40 MPG which i reconn ids pretty good the Mireva is no where near this. Is it a Vauxhall Diesel thing or is it me?

just got back from south france in our mundano TDCi 130 Estate. Averaged slightly over 40 mpg, although that was 90% motorway cruising at 85 - 90 mph. Still, pretty good considering we had 8 cases of wine, the baby and all the associated paraphernalia on board. I found that the economy went up markedly once the engine had about 10k on it. before that it was it was only returning about 35 mpg. bloody good car, IMO - not that anyone cares. :)

Got the 2.0 DTi Zafira get 32/35 kicking about, hard driving, motorway 40/43 ranging
from 75/95 mph.

A fair return in my opinion
