Can someone explain to me....
The term 'settled down'? OK the answer might seem obvious but so many people have different definitions of this! I want the definitive definition:D
For instance a friend of mine is moving into a flat with her bf of 3months and she says thats 'settling down with him' whereas other people only see themselves as 'settled down' after marriage and children........... So how do SN see themselves? settled, unsettled......sooo  (and bored) Sooz:D |
would say settled down is when u get the pipe (not the special one;)) out, the slippers & the rocking chair !!
IMHO |
Settled down to me means being in a commited relationship, living together, possibly engaged, or at least pondering about it, and happy to do so. A Weimaraner puppy asleep on your feet, and general contentment.

Settle Down
1 Subside 2 Make a home 3 Begin to lead a quiet life 4 Form a regular pattern of work All above from the English dictionary ;) |
Most people seem to mean: "live with another person who you are having sex with. Marriage would be good, but living together is OK". So even if you have a house, a car, a steady job etc, you're not settled down as long as you are single.

It would probably be more interesting to hear your definition! Steve. |
settling down means when you cant get any more action from 3rd parties, you have no further career prospects, and you're too old to rock.
not something to look forward too by any stretch!! BB:) |
