Poorly to critical!
Compression tested the motor today to assertain which cylinder had let go. Had a good idea from the oily plug but it's better to be sure.
Good job i checked as well Front o/s cylinder 135psi :thumb: Rear o/s cylinder 0psi :( front n/s cylinder 145psi :thumb: Rear n/s cylinder 85psi :Suspiciou Well doesn't that open the proverbial can of worms!! Thought I might get away with just repairing the dodgy bank. Now I have to do both sides. Oh well lets just hope it's rings (fat chance!) Rather that, than the possible price tag attatched to Sti pistons. |
Had the head off the O/S bank to check out the cylinder that had no compression. Once I'd finally got the head of I inspected the piston crowns for damage. Result, not a single mark at all. There is a small deposit on the cylinder wall but i'll have to have a closer look to see whether it's eat in to the cylinder wall. The only thing to burst the bubble will be if the piston has gone the same as it would with a two stroke seizure and melted down the side.
Whilst we're here does anyone know a rough price for complete gasket sets for both heads including bolts. Also price on a complete set of rings. Best place to get them from would be great as well Cheers Wooffy |
