18" wheel problem

I just tried out a set of superleggera's in 18" on my classic Turbo.
The ET is 45, tyres are 215/40-18.

Ok I know that I have to use 215/35-18 but the wheels rub front and rear !!!!
Even at low speeds they touch the front inner wings !
Also the steering feel is totally f!cked up.

Now that I pu tback the 17's, you really felt that there was something wrong with the offset of the 18's...

Strange,

Wally

ET for a Classic is 53mm (OEM) or 52mm from Prodrive. 45 is way too wide and will bugger up everything, as you've discovered

Classics have very tight wheel arches and even diferent makes of tyre (of the same nominal size) can make the difference between fitting okay, and rubbing.

Most people trying 18s have some sort of problem, it seems. Price of fashion, if you ask me ;)

Richard.

Yep, I found that the wheels were from a WRX.
No good luck this time...
(But I still can use almost brand new Pirelli's tyres from this set, :D)
