Out of interest can someone describe what you do on a rolling road and how it works? |
Drive car on rollers, strap it down
accelerate in 4th(?)against braked rollers... right up to red line Computer on rollers measures tourque/bhp at the wheels by comparing the force produced and converts it to "at the flywheel" figures. |

Don't forget the meaningless graph which might as well have been knocked up in Excel too... Great Idea, Just working on it now, Is it Red for Bhp & Green for torque :D Wooo Hooo 987 Bhp & 789 Ft Lb's What a Baby, She flies |

This was one of the MY00 hesitating bags of Sh!te and still apparently produced 230BHP. The people who own the dyno's must laugh at the long queue of people willing to let them thrash their cars and then pay them for the privalidge! http://dyno.scoobynet.co.uk/uk/darren_guest1.gif |
But wait! If a WR1 came in at 300BHP we would have the community divided as some say "RR's quite often under-read, that's a conservative figure, t'was a warm day" others would say "Ha! told ya so, 316 BHP my arse!".
With 332BHP there should be rejoicing in the fields. |

LOL, I love the cynical nature of some on sn:)
Its my car that made 332.2 (329.5 on the graph they printed for me though) at Prosport yesterday. I'll scan the graph when i get time (or is it when I get time to knock it up lol;)) In the mean time Car WR1 (cue the jeers) mileage 5000ish (scientific this init:p) Ambient temp 20 (according to the in-car temp gauge) Tmax = 317.3 @ n = 4.380rpm V = 84.2mph Pmax = 329.5bhp @ v = 112.2mph n = 5830rpm Ptol = -0.2% Pwheel= 267.3bhp Ploss = 49.9bhp This was the 2nd run Car is std Fuel is Optimax only For the ppl who love rr's and their figures, yes my penis is much larger now I have a graph that says 329.5 thanks:p |
The book says she should be 320ps (roughly 316bhp I'm told) and 420Nm. Could anyone please convert my Torque figures into Nm please.
Thanks Anthony |

Thanks Anthony 317.3 lb ft = 429.71 Nm Looking quite healthy :) |
hmmm, interesting....not really one for RR tests....but this one's got me thinkin....
The details say 267bhp at the wheels, 50bhp lost in transmission, i.e. 15%. Now then, I understand a rule of thumb is 10% for rear wheel drive cars, 15% for 4wd, so pretty much on the money there....which begs my question: What transmission loss are others getting here? Got a STI-PPP MY03 (Dazza - you've done a RR with this car I think - what loss did you get?) Reason for asking is that I thought the DCCD-A cut losses quite a bit. Is this reflected in the RR tests for STI-PPP's vs WR1 figures above, which are same transmission wise apart from the DCCD-A... Oops - looked at figs again - someone explain pls - 267.3 is power at wheels, 49.9bhp power lost, which adds up to 317.2??? What have I missed?? |
Ive run my MY03 JDM STi Spec C on ProSports rollers with 2k on the clock, she made 300bhp and 312lbs of torque (considering she was still tight and the ambient temp was 70 deg ;)) she is loosening up nicely now though :D (just running an STi panel filter)
Power loss at the wheels though, my car made 255bhp@wheels, this equates to 15% losses, which proves the theory that A-DCCD cars loose less though the transmission ;) Those are nice figures for a WR1 though, what you cannot say is that the car is standard (265ps btw) so tuned its good :D Tony:D |
;) Oh my god.. those figures can't be right....;-)
For 1470kg to do 100 in 10.67 seconds "prodrives figures" it would need 360bhp... I'd be having a word with your dealer m8...:Whatever_ Dazza |
Ok see thread http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...=348249&page=4
Can we get together and put this long running argument to rest... Manchester's not far from Yorkshire... roll on runs at dawn ;) , keeping it legal and in good spirit, and keeping it safe... just a comparison... NO racing... or being stupid... simply as you do in daily driving if you pull up next to a nice car, or like id did testing a Tuscan on the slip road... With those figures the WR1 should do what the Tuscan S did when I tried to keep up down the M1 slip road.... Forked off! I give up after third, it just rompt orf! Lets see if the WR1 is in the real world faster than a standard PPP... I hope it is becouse those who have bought one will be over the moon... Hawkeye... you about m8... Dazza especialy with 330+bhp... i'd b well happy, considering stating-the rollers are 10% pessimistic! Mmmmm |

As for the std comment, depends on which side of the production line you stand on surly :p Its the same WR1 you met and Conway Castle btw:) I'll scan the graph sometime today. The operators did mention how smooth she was. |
Are you going to LADS meet this sunday btw??
Tony:D PS is everything sorted on the WR1 now? ;) |
If its as nice a day as last time i went then yeah:)
Blue boy, up 4 it? Yep wasn't a problem, thanks:) |

That sounds interesting m8, I'd like to see Hawkeye's mysterious car:)
I'f not meet on the 'private' road, maybe one of the Northern meets?

Btw the Torque figure isn't a calculation derived from the bhp like they do on other RR. They measure the pulses across the battery and somewhere else. |

QUOTE] no probs m8 im gonna be around a bit now, seems like people don't mind me surfacing now that the Wr1 has arrived!!! hawk :D |

Meet
PS whats the LADs meet... and can i come...? where is it also???
Dazza PS Hawkeye, is yours going to be quicker than mine too? Oh no the shame I have a lowly STI ppp that i have to do warp factor 9 out of junctions in! LOL:) |
