Can't decide on a TEK 3!!!

Spoke to Xtreme Scoobies yesterday about having a TEK 3 done on my '02 WRX. I know it will make a big difference but, just can't make my mind up.

I used to be indecisive but, now I'm not so sure!!

I know there are loads of you who have had this done, anyone want to post some Pro's or Con's?

By the way Pete and Pat at Xtreme were very helpful, it' refreshing to speak to people who have a genuine knowledge and are prepared to take the time to speak to you!!!

Pat estimates (I won't hold him to it!) with the full de-cat I have already (Scoobysport system) I should be up for around 285bhp. Anyone have a similar set up? Did you notice a difference in fuel consumption? Any probs with the car afterwards? Anyone wish they hadn't had a remap?

Cheers

Matt

I'm off to Xtreme in around 10 days to get a Tek 3 done on my 02 JDM Wagon :)

Spoke to Pat on the phone and he seemed very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

Said he'd done a JDM with VVT before and it went very well so looking forward to see what he can do.

Can't help you yet, but I've never heard of anyone that wasn't happy with a Tek 3 :)

Matt,

Just do it, you won't regret it.

bhp figures are about right.

Didn't stop smiling for weeks after mine. No n oticable difference in MPG

All Pro's, No Con's

Enjoy

Tek3 was the deciding factor for me in keeping the scoob. Was thoroughly disappointed with it as standard ( after Corrado VR6 ), the difference after it was Tekked ( inc. supporting mods ) was ( is ) like night and day. Do it, you won't regret it! No related reliability issues after 10k, fuel consumption not great now though ( 'cos I drive it harder since the mods, probably ).

its a fantastic mod and well worth having done, pat mapped my car and he definitely knows his stuff, bhp figures are about right, no issues with fuel, get it done mate.

If your bored with your car then go for it!

It'll be cheaper than changing the car. And i've never seen a bad post about the company on here.

Does the turbo kick in earlier?? Just wondered as if it does, then obvioulsy the fuel consumption would increase when crusing at the about 80mph (3k - no turbo)??

The turbo doesn't just stay spooled up once you pass a certain RPM.

It depends on how far you've pressed the accelerator and the load on the engine.

Get a boost gauge and you'll see that you can sit at 100+mph off boost

Thats what i wanted to hear, step 2 talk the Mrs into it!!!

scooby L 05 August 2004 12:34 PM

The map will allow more fuel/boost at lower rpm, so increased tourqe will be the biggest noticable difference. Plus you will have the security of correct fueling, by de-catting without this mod you could be putting your engine at risk. (DET)
