SUDDEN Jerk....HELP

MY98 UK WR Sport..
Standard TD04 Turbo
Drives perfectly
Idles Perfectly
Defi Gauges indicate Correct readings etc

BUT

If I Drive the Car Hard...On Boost...All of a sudden Its Like I hit a Brick Wall. Have been told that I am OVER-BOOSTING and may need to reset the ECU as I Have a FULL H&S De-Cat.

Not worried...Yet...But was hoping for more Tips as to what I should be Looking out for....I was thinking of having a FULL Diagnostics Check done by a Dealer???

You are both probably overboosting due to less backpressure on the exhaust.
The turbo is spinning up faster producing a spike in boost before settling down to a constant maximum level.

This spike is being read by the boost pressure sensor and the ECU is shutting off the fuel to the engine producing the 'hit the brick wall' symptoms.

A cheap and easy solution is to fit a Dawes device - taking the control of the boost away from the ECU (which is too slow to stop the boost spike).

You can then set the boost to a level just below the boost cut off threshold for your model car (the level differs depending on year and type). This still gives a quick spool up but stops the overshoot.

Richard...Many Thanx for that

I've been advised that by resetting the ECU by disconnecting the Battery for approx. 1 Hour It will Allow the ECU to "Learn" the changes and adjust accordingly. I have the Upgraded Prodrive ECU which is fitted as part of the WR Sport upgrade.

Will this help?
