PFF7 Wheels

I am looking at getting a set of these. What sort of discount can anybody get.
I have been offered 10% standard SIDC discount.
Discount for 3 sets 15%, any more than 3 discount will increase a bit more.
This price includes delivery to several towns in the south, although maybe towards the midlands as i didn't look into all delivery locations.
If anybody would be interested, please reply.
Or if you know of better prices , please let me know.

These discount are on wheel only or with tyres, although I think tyres can be obtained cheaper.

I'd be interested if the price is right...

Smatt 02 August 2004 09:53 PM

List price is £275.00
10% discount = £247.50
15% discount = £233.75
More than 3 a bit more, I was told tell me how many and I will give the best price they can.
I didn't ask, but I am sure that the offer would include any Subaru supplied wheels.

Lets hope more the merrier!

anyone else?

Trashman 05 August 2004 06:51 PM

I could be interested, looking to change wheels but not yet 100%sure what I'm going for. These are the 18's we're talking about? And anyone got an idea on tyre cost (Toyo's I presume or other Micheldever Tyres finest?)

Trashman 05 August 2004 06:53 PM

Also meant to ask is this a local dealer to Hants? Curious as to which one and if they are open to discounting anythjing else (Prodrive Springs or PPP for instance)?

Nevetas 05 August 2004 09:46 PM

Yep I'd be going for 18's

Smatt 07 August 2004 02:12 PM

The dealer is not in hants, but I am pretty sure that they will give discounts on other items. I am looking at springs and WR1 grill. I have not looked into tyre prices yet, but black circles or micheldever will be tops on my list for prices. I am in B/stoke. Dealer told me that they deliver to various places in Hants, Berks & Wilts. I did not question every delivery option but would guess they get around quite a bit given the counties listed.

I'd be interested in a set of 18" for a MY02 Sti, wheels only.

Nevetas 11 August 2004 10:29 AM

I'm pretty friendly with my dealer, as I used to work there. So I will give him a call, and see if I can get a bigger discount for us.... watch this space....

They are your wheels, if yours are 18 inch.

If those who are definately interseted send me a private message, giving town and quantity/style/colour, I will sort out the best prices and delivery. I am after a WR1 grill & Prodrive springs as well, so if these are of interest let me know as this is all extra bargaining power.

There is only one size of P-FF7 and that is 8x18" ET51.
Small error in the WR1 brochure as I didn't get to proof it.

mike wood posted this up on my previous wheel group buys:

The range of wheels we supply is on our website www.prodrive.com the only information it doesn't have is the offset of the P-FF7 which is ET51. In the US the wheels are technically the same but the colour range is slightly larger than the UK with an additional colour called British Pewter which is actually really called Grigio Uranio if you want to use the Italian name. This wheel is the same colour as the WR1 wheel although there are some small differences between the two specs.

In the US and Japan we sell various other wheels which are manufactured for us in Japan, primarily for that market. Unfortunately these are not always available in the offsets we require here (most wheels that would fit over the Brembo calipers are ET43 for example) so we do not bring them into the UK. So the reason we don't bring them here is that they don't work, this isn't a conspiracy to deprive the British of anything, other than wheels that won't fit your car properly.

Bright flitter is a colour used on the P-FF7 which is ET51, the ET53 and ET46 wheels are the P1 (P-WRC1). In order to make sure that the offsets couldn't be mixed up, we don't do different offsets in the same colour so the ET53 wheels are gold, silver and anthracite, the ET46 are rally gold and crystal titanium.

Ref offset and fitment to the 'Classic' cars, when we were developing the P1 we always wanted to offer the car on 18" wheels and the original development spec was set at ET50 with an 8x18" wheel. In most conditions this was OK as the development car did not have the rubber lip on the rear arch so only touched in extreme conditions. This wasn't an acceptable solution for release so we changed the spec to a 7.5x18 ET53 which does clear when used with the Pirelli or another similar shaped 225/35 tyre. We did try it with other tyres the same size but found that we had a foul as most other tyres this size had kerbing ribs or similar bulges in the sidewalls. If an 8x18" wheel must be fitted then ET51 will be as good as you will get but don't expect to bolt them straight on and not have to do anything to make sure they don't catch.

Another thing to consider is that the suspension should be given a thorough make-over as well. Fitting 18" wheels sharpens up the whole car quite considerably and if your std suspension is even slightly worn or the geometry is not perfect you will end up with a car that is at best unpleasant to drive and at worst, downright dangerous.
Some time ago I had the misfortune to see what was left of a std car fitted with 18" wheels that had been involved in a very serious accident and the only thing we could put it down to was getting out of phase with the steering over a series of bumps because the driver may have only had one hand on the wheel.

I hope this clears up any lingering issues.

Regards

Mike
