Causes of Brake Squeal?

The brakes on my MY00 are giving me frustration! Since changing the front pads a few weeks the brakes have started squealing a lot.

Fitted Black Diamond Predator Pads 3 weeks ago and to begin with all was well, shortly after the front drivers side brake has started to squeal at the slightest dab of the brakes and on occasion as soon as the car sees a corner (lake district - so longest straight is about 6 inches...)

Anyway - purchased a load of copper grease and plaster the bad of the pads and refitted - still squealing, then bought a tin of copper grease spray and gave everything a liberal coating (not discs or pads or course!) and although the squealing has lessened - it's still there!

Also I suspect the rear drivers side brake is sticking slightly as it's squealing too but after the brake has been released.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I'm also wondering if getting too much water on the brakes when washing the car will cause it - and if so, what can I do about it.

thanks in advance.

Dust on the disc is the usual culprit. Maybe you aren't getting them hot enough? Uprated pads need to heated regularly to deglaze them and clean the discs.

might have to do a few emergency stops on the way home tonight then - was thinking about putting the old pads back on...

I didn't touch the rear brakes so dunno why they're squealing.

sticky calipers, not bedded-in properly, pad material....................the list could be endless
post some more info. and see if there is a more obvious problem...................
