One and Only resorts?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :)
I would really appreciate any views on the One and Only Resorts, especially the one in the Maldives. I intend to go somewhere nice next year and this seems very well rated.

Any personal experiences there would be superb.

If you are gonna spend alot of money go to Oz and go to Wilson Island. Went there for my honeymoon and it was truly amazing.

Have done Royal Mirage, Dubai twice. Once Y2K, once Xmas 03. Nice. Better 1st time round. 2nd time round was overrun by rich Russians with plastic boobs.... and their women. Would recommend going for a room with club/lounge access for free drinks, snacks, etc.

Cheers Lee, appreciate your comments. Is the service is good as they say and is the food up to scratch? I really fancy the Kanuhura resort in the Maldives at present. What's the club/lounge access?

Service in Dubai was impeccable. Lots of Indian staff for whom working in a pukka hotel was a great opportunity for them and they relished the job and environment. There was one houseboy type whose job appeared to be hoovering different patterns into the corridor carpets each evening and he'd always switch off the hoover to say "good evening" when we walked past.

Food - 6/10. No gourmet moments but fine for lunch/salads/breakfasts, etc.

w.r.t club/lounge, etc. On our first year we booked a "gold club" room. Basically there's a shared lounge with TV, drinks, nibbles, etc. Nice to have the flexibility of an additional room to slob in (rather than just pool, own room, etc) and free drinks, etc., as being a tight git, I resent sitting in the main hotel area paying for every little thing that's consumed. For the extra £20-£30 per day on the room, I think it works out as a good economy in an upmarket resort.
