PC work with one Ethernet LAN card and one TokenRing LAN card?
Mornin' all...
I may have a requierment for a PC that needs to be connected to an office TokenRing LAN for some programmes, but an ADSL Router on Ethernet LAN for mail. Is there any way for the PC/Programmes to know which connection they should use? This is on Win2K Pro. Cheers :) |
this should be fine, outlook can be told which connection to use on startup...

just dont plug the plugs in the wrong socket!

You'll need to have one as the default route - and add static routes to the other for specific servers (assuming the things you want to talk to arent also immediately connected to the same subnets on the toke-ring and ethernet LANs)

As Dsmith says - ONLY one must have a default gateway set up and the IP sub-nets for the other must have static routes added individually.
route add -p 192.168.0.0 mask 255.255.0.0 192.168.0.1 (as an example) One other thing - make sure that routing is switched off in IP properties or your p.c. will act as a bridge between the two networks. |
i didn't realise anyone still used token ring anymore.
