Lodger rates....

Anyone on here have a lodger at all? What do you charge and how did you find them.

Mates or Advert etc... Looking at getting a lodger in southeast... Double Bedroom own bathroom and lounge as well.

Any info helpful..

have a look in the flatshare part of the independant/guardian. that will give you some idea of the going rate. £400 pcm would prabably be somewhere to start.

Make sure you draw up a tenancy agreement in advance. Makes getting rid of them much easier if/when you fall out with them.

I had a mate lodging for a year or so, it was a mate i already knew but we fell out and it got a bit awkward/tense when i asked her to leave. Personally i wouldn't do it again, definately not without a legally binding contract etc.

I was charging a "mates" rate (more like paying a parent housekeeping) and it was below market rate, TBH it wasn't worth it IMO.

ah yes - much opportunity for falling out!

the main problem with housemates is that if you aren't sh*gging them, it's a lot harder to overlook their faults. (no wonder my request for a swedish au-pair was declined!)

Had a look online and 400 seems like the going rate!!! Hoping there's enough room you can keep out of each others way if you need to....

Well if anyone knows someone who is looking for somewhere to live, near West Malling in kent.... :) let me know
