handbrake adjustment

started to adjust handbrake today,
but thought i would check pads first.
backed adjuster in disk off before refitting disk expecting adjuster to re tension on offside
but it didnt so no handbrake
found plate that forces pads apart in nearside had broken has anyone
got an exploded drawing for this set up .
and how do you retension before fitting disk.
lo and behold no plate on stock at dealers either

?? the pads for the rear brakes are totally seperate from the handbrake......................these have a pair of 'shoes' inside the bell of the disc..................you will have to adjust the tension manually on each side (thro' keyhole on rear of disc) to get the handbrake within adjustment.....................

hope this helps as i'm not sure of the way your post reads

sorry my wording , meant shoes.
have stripped disks off to check then put back on.
adjusted adjuster till just feel disk when pushing on.
are you saying you can adjust without taking disk off?
cheers

cetainly can...................on the rear of the backing plate, near the bottom (looking from the centre of the car) is a small oblong grommet............take this out and you will be able to get a small screwdriver to turn the adjuster!!
sort both sides "et voila"..............
