Camera Advice
What are the SN experts' opinions on this camera?
Pentax Asahi SP1000, 35mm, SLR http://dennis.demonserver.de/fotos/f...axsp1000_2.jpg Are they a good brand? Prone to failure? Thanks. |
oooh...sorry for the mahoosive photo... :(
If someone could resize that for me, that would be brilliant, as there's nothing on this PC that can do that here. |
Up for the afternoon crowd.
Anyone got one of these? |
Hello Mice :D - long time no speak...
Sorry, dunno about the camera - useless as ever :p |
I'm sure it's fine - but it can't be worth much now.
35mm SLR's second hand are now peanuts due to digital compacts and now digital SLRs coming into play...... |
Ooh, 1960s pap look - great cameras, very reliable, heavy as hell. Why get one though, other than nostalgia? For a pure manual camera, I'd go for an Olympus OM-1N, or an OM-2 for an auto/manual.

I've seen very very good 35mm SLRs bodies from Canon & Minolta for under £100 secondhand now...can't think why you'd want to choose to use a 1960's SLR.
The lens doesn't look that special either.....55mm f2.0? |
Hi Rich - Hope you're well. :) Thanks for that useful advice. ;) :D
I've got an uptodate digital camera, but like the feel of the old-style ones as well. What would be the best old-style camera I could get? And would it be worth getting old style looks in digital format and if so....would the Canon still be the better option? |
It's getting hard to find lens for old Pentaxes - even my ProgramA is a problem. But those were good cameras in their day. If you want to come forward into the 80s I'd go with Nikon.
