As the topic states. Can anyone recommend between these two systems & their main differences & costs.

i am in the market too ,trying to decide between a 300 and 600 after being categorically told by a clifford dealer the 500 is not thatcham cat 1.
300 = £350 pounds
600 = £650 in the brum area

I can categorically state that the Concept 500 IS CAT 1 approved as stated by Clifford on their web site.

Although there are a couple of mistakes on their pages about the 500 (ie does not include glass sensor & does include window roll up)

The main difference between the two is the third imobilisation - wireless fuel cut-off.

I bought a Concept 500 over the 600 because I couldn't stretch to the price of a 600. Chris is right, the main difference being the wireless fuel cut off. My C500 however did include auto front window roll up and the glass tampering sensor.

Id go for the 600, there are more standard goodies on it including anti hijack which for the first few days is a pain in the ar5e but once use to it its great http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif you dont know its there, also it has the proximity sensor which i dont think the 500 has and is a newer system.
May be a little more expensive but id rather have my car where i left it the night before as every bit helps (including the disklok http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif)

The C500 does have anti-hijack and proximity sensor.

Turbo Timer option was about 100 inc fitting on the C500.

chris you are quite right i checked thatcham site and the 500 is cat1.
just shows you can't even trust a dealer to give you the right answer...so i shall not be buying an alarm from him.

500 is the same as the 600 except the 600 has motion tilt sensor/window closing and 3rd immobliser on fuel pump according to what i can make from the 2 specifications.

I have the 600 on mine.

I cant fault it.

Dear oh dear, I pity the clientele of the supposed Clifford dealer who wrongly stated the Concept 500 was not a Cat 1. Nathan obviously struck it lucky when he purchased his C500 as his installer threw in the rollups and glass tampering sensor. The only three differences between the C600 and 500 are that the C500 doesn't come with rollups (allthough the facility is there), the wireless immobilisation module, or the fantastic digital tilt/motion sensor, all totalling over £300, but the 600 is only £150 more than the 500. Other than that, the two systems have exactly the same ECU with the same software and wiring looms.

Won't say what model ive got but have the digital tilt and motion sensor and it's the dogs dangles you can park the car at any angle and it still works and looks after the wheels

Does the Concept 600 work alongside the original Scooby factory fitted alarm and immobiliser?

How long does the Concept 600 take to install?

Is there a recommended agent in Hampshire?

If several of us were to want these items fitted, could you do a group discount?

1. Best to be out with the old alarm (leaving the transponder immobiliser 'as is') as the 600 is in it's own league

2. A 600 should take a day and a bit depending on the installer. Less than a day would probably mean it will end up a bit of a horses ass of an install.

The problem with Jap import imprezas (only WRX STi's of a few years ago, red painted engines on most of them) was that they had some ignition related components which induced rather a lot of power supply borne noise which can upset some of the more complex Clifford processors. This means that your installer should order a modified Clifford ECU which has some beefed up power supply smoothing on it, but these filtering components also filter out the fuelguard data which comes out of the ECU, so you can't install the fuelguard module. As I said, only the old WRX STi suffers from this.

Always use max for my alarms, as he knows what he is doing and has always done an excellent job and I'm not local. Its definately worth the travel,
Not all Clifford dealers do a good job, as the first Clifford I had fitted (a 50X to an MY98) they took the ECU part out of its steel box!!!! and fitted it, leaving the steel case to be thrown away!!!!. Goodbye Cat 1

errrm think it cost me around 50 quid for the turbo timer and the installation took 10hours :eek: but that was without the timer or boot release that i had fitted afterwards so a long day for the installation.

Just to say, I recommend Max as well. Even though he didn't fit the alarm on my car, he has helped me out over the phone and via e-mail on a couple of problems with my clifford alarm. He comes highly recommended on this bbs :)
