I have just had my doors de-locked and they look nothing short of Awesome!

Had the locks taken out and relevant rods removed!! The handles were then filled and coloured to perfection!

They may still get in but at least they wont do £600+ of damage to the door!!

If anyone wants details drop me a mail or reply. Someone mentioned a group buy....
If there is enough people interested I will sort it. Cost would depend on numbers as always. Mine was done for £150 - but I know the guy and he owed me a favour. May get it as low or cheaper!

Good mod though! http://secret.lab6.com/uploaded_files/1001347764. Edited for picky!

Hi there,

Scoobysnack told me about your de-locking in my thread over the weekend. I am EXTREMELY interested and would like to see the quality. Do you have any piccies, or would you happen to be in the Bracknell area so that I could see for myself?

Laurence

WiseGuy 17 September 2001 09:44 PM

I thought the yellow scoob in last months Banzai was great http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif made it look like a coupe http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Quite interested, would like to see some picks though

Cheers http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Plantie 18 September 2001 10:48 AM

Don't have a diggie cam but will see what I can do in the way of pics. Quality is exceptional, you would think it was a normal rear handle.

I am in the Reading area lpitt, but will be going to Brighton on Sunday, so if your there....

David_Wallis 18 September 2001 09:24 PM

Erm... Am I missing something?

Why not just remove the handle.. two 10mm bolts.. unclip the rods... remove the retaining clip.. remove the lock and then just bolt in a back door handle??

(fair enough my door handles arent colour coded yet..)

David

Plantie 19 September 2001 12:14 AM

That is what has been done, but the door handles have been filled and re sprayed.

Looks exactly like a rear handle.

robby 19 September 2001 09:53 PM

Did the same to mine, 2 stage filler ( epoxy i think) built up then smoothed down level, painted £80. I had the locks left in behind the handle( they are seperate ) so if the next buyer wanted them in all i had to do was replace the handle, any theives wouldn't know they were still there

Plantie the handles looked superb http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Will have to see them in daylight next time, as opposed to torch light! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

ScoobySnack 21 September 2001 02:10 PM

Yep count me in for the work to be done..............

I've seen first hand on my old car what it looks like when some to**er tries to stick a screwdriver in a lock to open it.....

Apart from being a stupid way of breaking into the car, it leaves lock and panel damage that cost me approx £500 to repair..

Filling the locks seems go idea to me

Plantie 21 September 2001 02:12 PM

Hoppy 21 September 2001 08:51 PM

Nice idea Plantie, but it's not going to stop anyone getting into your car.

The scum that nicked my briefcase just shoved a screwdriver between the glass and B post, and the window shattered. I know it was a screwdriver as it broke in two and they left half of it stuck through the rubber seal.

That's the problem with frameless windows. I thought about getting the glass laminated but I don't think it would help much and is also illegal (as you can't break out in an accident).

Just take a look at the top of your windows. I think I could break in there with my bare hands, if needs be. (Might chip me nail varnish, though http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif )

Richard.

David_Wallis 21 September 2001 11:17 PM

This has just pi$$ed me off as I bought two back handles from a scrap yard... (mail order) and I have just looked and the back handles are smaller.... and mount differently... Doh Again!

Delocking the boot is a no no in my book... as I allways seem to manage to get flat batterys.. and I allways climb in through the boot to get back in... but I suppose most of you are driving 4drs.. so Ill shut up.

David

Plantie 26 September 2001 08:32 AM

No other takers? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Tim Taylor 26 September 2001 01:31 PM

One question...what happens when your remote battery dies and you need to get into the car? Some of you could get in via the boot but us RB5 drivers who have fixed rear bulkheads...

Just wondering.

Looks good by the way http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Tim

ScoobyJawa 27 September 2001 01:25 PM

Doesn't really matter does it? If your remote fails, you can't get into the car without setting the alarm off. And you can't start it either because the alarms immobiliser won't be immobilised.......

Just have to go home to get the spare........(bummer if yer in Glasgow and live in Portsmouth!!!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif )

Plantie 27 September 2001 01:39 PM

Good point Neil...

Alternativly to get in you just call the AA or RAC and they ill then show you how easy it is to get in !

Tim Taylor 27 September 2001 07:30 PM

ScoobyJawa

Not a problem with an RB5 and MY99 cars as they have the keypad in the glovebox to turn off the alarm?imm.

Plantie
Far enough point, just a bit inconvenient http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Tim

ScoobyJawa 27 September 2001 09:25 PM

Tim,

Oh yeah!! - mines an MY99, forgot about the Keypad http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif , but I would probably forget how to use it anyway http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif lol!!!

tim saleh 27 September 2001 11:20 PM

nice one, guys but i'm thinking of going the full monty ie flushing the handles and all. my problem is who could fix me up with a electrical wizard to install a remote door opener without having to get myself a new alarm system?

help you guys. thanks.

David_Wallis 18 October 2001 01:59 PM

Ok, so i thought that I could buy and fit back door handles... nope..

Solution no2. Go to BQ and buy a small bolt with a rounded head similar to a coach bolt with a short say m8 thread bolt.... remove door handle and replace lock with this so that the head is where the lock was... add washer on the other side and tighten nut up... replace door handle and all you have is a silver bit without a slot for a key.... make sure bolt is galvanised... or paint it black if your handles are black.

Will post pics.. looks better than it sounds and can be done for less than a fiver.

oh and you can put it back to standard easy!

David
