How many scoob turbos are there out there? I count myself lucky (or satisfied in some peverse way http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ) if I see one in a day. I travel 130 miles a day, around 700 a week & I rarely see another scoob. SO we must be rare. Anyone know how many there are? Anyone have any geographical info?

I saw 3 today between Poole - Salsibury - Poole journey.

A silver one waved but didnt notice him till the last minute (was looking to see the garage adjacent to me sold SUL - spot the SUL seems to be a bit of a game)

Northerners must have better taste - you trip over the things up here in Yorkshire, and I've been to places in Scotland where you see more Scoob's than Escorts! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

I think its a weather thing. Friday was a lovely sunny day when I did a round trip from Leeds to Newcastle and there were Scoobies everywhere. A couple of weeks ago, same trip but raining, only saw a couple of them. Are owners worried about getting them dirty?

I've been travelling from Wokingham to Beverley (near Hull) every week for the past few weeks and usually only see around four or five on the 240 mile journey.

But, since I got the Scoob, a lot of my mates have commented on how common they are!!! I've tried to explain that they just remember seeing scoobs as they're so gorgeous whereas they just ignore the hundreds of humdrum repmobiles, people carriers et al but they don't seem to understand. Philistines the lot of 'em! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

We must have good taste here in Derby. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Passed 3 Scoobys before I even got off our estate the other day! I know one of them but I don't know where the other two came from.

Usually see one or two on the drive into work and that is only 4 miles.

They're becomming as common as Escorts http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Went to the garden centre last weekend (10 miles round), saw four + a Sport! That's when I was looking!

Agree on the northerners thing, I'm the same can't go anywhere without seeing at least one other scoob!!! not including Gary!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I heard that they had sold around 12,000 UK Turbos since the model was introduced.

I think a lot depends on the proximity of a dealer. I see only a small number here on the SOuth coast, but notice more when travelling to places where there are dealers.

chrisp 09 July 2000 11:45 AM

yep midlanders and notherners are starting to get in on the act. I had the only turbo in my area back in 1998 now there must be a 10. Obviously a fashion statement down south http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif they all have S2000 and Boxsters http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif.

The may have sold 12,000 turbos (+ all the specials + at least http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif 150,000 imports http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif ). I wonder if we have more STi's than Japan http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ?.

cheers

Johnr,

It is always nice to come across a fellow SAP consultant in your hometown. What car have you got? I will keep my eyes open

Andy

There are 2 in my village (MY98 and MY00), 1 in the next village down the lane (MY00), 1 who visits his parents regularly in my village(MY99), and Chuckster and his 22b about 5 miles away.

Seems they appear in pockets in my area, but all friendly except the one down the lane who does not wave http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Yex

Chuckster: I will wave when I b****y well catch up with you one day http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Green UK MY98 with no mods (yet). You've only got a week to spot it as I'm moving to Bristol next Saturday!

Apparently there are a few Scoobs around Wokingham but I've only seen two so far, one silver MY99 and another green one.

So Richardson you FINALLY got round to posting huh?
You won't see many Scoobs around Wokingham mate - land of the Rover & BMW I seem to remember!?!? Also SUL is like rockinghorse sh1t around there - good job you've got a slow Scoob isn't it?

BTW
Andys: he's not really a SAP Consultant - he just thrashes around in the config pretending he's some idea of what he's doing . . . easy life
Might get a real job one day . . .

Mr Frank,

How the devil are you? Back from your globetrotting escapades then.

Now, now, leave Mr Bower alone. After all, there's no accounting for taste! Rocking horse sh1t??? I don't think so, plenty available in the main garages, now Beverley, that's another story. 'Sorry mate, no call for it'

Anyway, I thought that being an SAP consultant meant thrashing around pretending you knew what you were doing. I seem to recall you were a Jedi Master at this approach!!!!

John

andys 10 July 2000 02:25 PM

Yes but is always the poor basis consulant who has to do the restore 'cause you application people stuff the system!!!!

D Noble 10 July 2000 04:54 PM

its the old market town thing....
scoobs traditionally mean farmers,so youll see plenty around my patch(ayrshire) and places like lanarkshire and perthshire
but to be honest i bought one because colin mcrae drove one,and if skoda had won the wrc,id probably be driving one of these instead.fashion eh!

Bloody loads on the M6 every morning between Birmingham and Crewe! Back in 1994, my old Turbo was rare!! I had to buy a Type R to stand out! Tee Hee

Paul Frank 10 July 2000 06:22 PM

Ah!

power, knowledge, credibility . . . a Jedi craves not these things http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Andys: you assume too much young acolyte!
