MY New C-West Grille II

Just thought I’d post some pictures of my new C-West Front Grille II.

I ordered it from JapanParts and it took only 8 days to arrive – very impressive

It’s not been painted yet (getting it done this week), but I did a test fit to make sure everything was ok.

The biggest thing for me now is the drop in inlet temps.

Because of the bigger gap, more air now gets to the airfeed of the airbox.

Monitoring my SECS inlet display I noticed.

Inlet temps drop faster, after being stationary for sometime.

Whilst crusing at around 40mph, inlet temp is 3-4 degrees above ambient.
Whilst crusing at around 70mph, inlet temp is 2-3 degrees above ambient.
Whilst crusing at around 80mph, inlet temp is 1-2 degrees above ambient.

Above 80 and I have seen the inlet temp showing the same as ambient.

Cheers :)

Glad it works as it looks crap :D

Madjay2 12 July 2004 12:02 PM

BAH 12 July 2004 12:07 PM

ooh sorry makes a mess of the front of the car...

DBY 12 July 2004 02:30 PM

When it's painted, I bet it will look a whole lot better!!

John

marklemac 12 July 2004 02:33 PM

I agree John.

It currently looks like my 03 scoop before that was painted. Dull & shabby.

I'll post again once painted and re-fitted with badge :)

Madjay2 12 July 2004 02:45 PM

it looks the same colour as the car to me in the pics i dont think volouring it will make it look any better.

DBY 12 July 2004 02:49 PM

Mark they know nothing! LOL

JackClark 12 July 2004 02:50 PM

Selling your old scoop by any chance?

DeanF 12 July 2004 03:46 PM

I can see the practical side, but it does make the car look like a Catfish

Or is it that it looks more like

imprezaWRC 12 July 2004 06:35 PM

soory mate but it doesn't looks nice then the original one but I know it's better for the inlet temp. dropping.

wrxmark 12 July 2004 08:49 PM

A brave man, it will grow on us I have no doubt although I think another colour may do it more favours. The bugeye grills are not the best looking things anyway

Mmmmm still looks a little broken but better in blue

jas03WRX 14 July 2004 04:59 PM

Ive seen it on the car and personally think its an improvement over the crappy original... photos dont do it justice. As for comments like: it looks a bloody mess... well Madjay2 you can stick them up your **** pipe!!! :hjtwofing

Good work Mark, when painted up it’ll look even better.

Madjay2 14 July 2004 05:13 PM

jas03WRX 14 July 2004 05:19 PM

at first i thought it was broken, but after seeing what it does - good idea!

Scooby7 15 July 2004 12:11 AM

Although it seems alot of people dont like it i think its alot better than the bog standard old grille and its good to be different gives the front end a more aggressive look to it.

marklemac 15 July 2004 07:21 AM

I honestly don't mind constructive criticism, as I only feel that I would give it to.

I posted here as I wanted to show people what I have done (hey thats what scoobynet is all about isn't it ?? sharing knowledge/opinions etc)

If you don't like the grille then hey, no problem. Don't buy one.

If you like the look or if more importantly, you like what it does to inlet temps, then great - I just wanted to share this with you.

As for me. I love it. For both reasons.

+ the whole point of the car modifying scene is individuality. Having your own ideas, not copying everyone else out there. Saying that, I don't mind if I start seeing other cars out there with the same grille :)

Good ol Scoobynet :)

Anyway, the paint shop couldn't fit me in this week, so its being painted on Monday, so should be fitted by Thursday next week.

I'll post updated pics next week.

Richard Askew 15 July 2004 10:16 AM

Looks OK to me and serves a purpose :)

Jay m A 15 July 2004 10:58 AM

Looks to me that in your 1st post the pics show it 'offered up' and not actually fitted - unlike the pic of the blue one.

Once painted and fitted I think it'll look fine

Simon Lau 15 July 2004 11:46 AM

Serving a purpose is right! There is a trend for performance cars converting to these kind of grilles in my part of the world as of late!

Bugger the styling ;)

DeanF 15 July 2004 02:59 PM
