selling car on ebay?
 

Has anyone tried this, and did the seller turn up and hand over the dosh if your reserve price was met?

Thinking about selling our Smart on there, but don't know if it will be a waste of time :)

Are we likely to get the same/less/more than on Autotrader?

It's a lottery like any auction. You only need a few of the *right* bidders at the time you advertise and it's anybody's guess as to what price you'll achieve.

I've sold on there before and had no problems with payment.

I've also advertised on there and had little interest one week and relisted it to be inundated.

It's up to you but I'd give it ago for the tiny amount it costs to advertise it, just be sure to put a reserve on it so you don't give it away.

Email me first with what Smart it is and where it is, plus what you will take for it.

i sold a car on ebay cost me £6 to list it seller turned up 3 days later with cash and drove off with it! you need to make sure in the auction you put that you are bidding to buy and not to look! try posting it on loot and bargain pages aswell both are free to advertise!

Also not sure if you are in the smartclub but worth a try joining up and putting it up for sale on there! I sold my old smart to a dealer and he paid me £30 less than what i paid for the car 2 years earlier!

I advertised a Corsa on ebay a while back. got a fair bit of interest and the bidding eventually went to a bit more than I was expecting. The winner never turned up, never answered any e-mails or anything. He had perfect feedback before, so i assume he suddenly realised that he was about 700 miles away from me, after he placed his bid.

You left him stinking feedback I assume?

and reported it as a non paying bidder to claim back your fees?

Will put it up in the week, hopefully we can get rid of the performance monster and get something with a smaller engine for the wife to commute in ;)

:confused: lol i had a smart and that wasnt a performance monter lol and the engine are tiny in them anyway! bloody good on fuel aswell!!! sounds like you have stuck a scoob engine in it ;) im hoping your being comical on this one :)

Yeah, I was being comical :)

Although, it's a bloody petrol guzzler... we get about 47mpg in it... I was hoping to get about 70 :) Maybe it's because my wife drives it at the 84mph limit all the time :rolleyes:

Once it's gone, we're going to look into getting a diesel of some sort, if I get my way

My smart used to be good on fuel ... when it wasnt in the dealer for repairs!

yerp, I did, and I claimed back my Ebay fees etc.

Sold it through the local free ads paper in the end, admittedly for less than I rerally had in mind, but I just needed rid of it.

In a cruel twist of fate, I now need it back. :(

I have sold 3 cars on ebay and it is great, put as many pictures as you can on the ad and make it clear that as others have said they are bidding to buy and not to Look!
The cost of the ad can be low but Ebay also charge a perfecntage selling fee on top if you sell, so can cost a bit more. Persoanlly i think you have more chance of selling a car on ebay than on say Autotrader IMO. Just look at teh number of cars on ebay now and the ones that have sold.. its a great place to trade.
