DVD Storage
Does anybody have any ideas for practical but minimal DVD storage solutions? We currently have our DVDs on 3 "tick" style shelves from IKEA but they are running out of space and putting up another of those shelves isnt an option for what is now 200+ DVDs.
Can anybody suggest an alternative, ideally they will all be on display so its easy to just scan over titles and grab one rather than hidden behind each other. Have checked all the usual suspects, Argos, B&Q, IKEA, etc but can't seem to find anything that isnt either way too small for that many DVDs or really bulky to look at. Cheers David |
Just converted my 400+ collection from individual boxes to album with sleeves. Can store about 25 to an album, and made a catalog on Excel to keep track of them. You can flip through the sleeves and view the labels, but the best improvement is that the collection is no longer in full view for friends to borrow and never return. Without knowing your filing system, they'll have to flip through the albums to find anything.

How about something like this
http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/zeroone/dvds.jpg A simple bookcase from Argos, and a couple of extra shelves from B&Q - jobs a gooden. WizzBang |
Next do some smart wavy stainless steel towers.
I have a few to store my DVD's but box sets etc wont fit. Lee |
put all the cases in the attic and get 1 (or some of these)
They come with basic software which allows you to catalogue them..... (excel) and the list is displayed on the front of it.... swwwweeeeeeeeeeet http://www.romdex.co.uk/html/discgear.html |
Whizzbang, that was almost how my collection looked like, before I ran out of shelf space and have to double park some of the rows.
Another solution is to have a Pioneer 300 DVD disk changer that stores 300 disks like a juke box plus a single play slot, but the limit would be 300 disks, and I have long exceeded that. |
Big disk(s) on server. rip all DVDs to server. Use Xbox and XBMC to play via LAN. Sorted.
Well works for me.... Deano |
