Yorks. police on the dark side !!!!!
Had a conversation with a traffic cop friend of mine last night, he told me that our local traffic men are getting two Evo 8's to play with, he did'nt know what model but needless to say he's exited at the prospect of a move up from his volvo. Turns out that the boss man who's just 'resigned' was the bloke who got rid of the forces two scoobies, obviously they didnt waste any time getting thier order in to the dark side.

If you go down the A1 towards Stevenage, you may see the evo 8 they've had for ages, it looks pretty good and I'll bet it's the FQ360 ....and look at Dorset Police
Dorset Police News The cars are the stars Dorset Police has some unusual and valuable vehicles - all provided free of charge by 35 different vehicle manufacturers in support of the Dorset policing operation. This year the Force has 110 vehicles, from a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 to four electric scooters from the ScootElectric range, including the SWAP and Magic models The limited edition Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 is half marked up as a World Rally Car and the other half in police livery to celebrate its full Home Office approval of the Evo 8 for police use. The electric-powered scooters, which are run on batteries, are designed to reduce both noise and air pollution. To charge the scooters up to full power again they are simply plugged in to a 3-amp socket on over night charge. Sgt Steve Quill of Dorset Police, who has been using one of the scooters, said: "These scooters are extremely quiet and surprisingly quick. I usually ride a 100bhp Honda Pan European ST1100 so the scooters are slightly different. "We would need to carry out further testing but first impressions are that they could be ideal for beat duties," he added. The fleet, which has both marked and unmarked cars, also includes two Volkswagen Phaeton worth £70,000 each. Other cars on loan include a Honda Civic dual fuel petrol and electric car and a convertible Volkswagen Beetle. Chief Inspector Tony Dymott, Deputy Co-ordinator for Operation Pegasus, said: "We are extremely grateful to all the manufacturers that have supported the policing. The opportunity to use new and different vehicles and alternative fuels is extremely useful and their support has been of great value." In total, the vehicles on loan to Dorset Police are worth £2.5 million at retail cost and have made savings to the Force of approximately £90,000 in hire costs. All marked police vehicles provide a highly visible and reassuring presence during the conference week and also help officers to police the town more efficiently and effectively. |
If yer gonna try it on, you'd best make sure it's a straight road :D

If he's getting an Evo 8 to play with, why has he exited? I'd have stuck around if I was him. :)

Saw a silver Evo VIII on Southend seafront last Saturday with Essex Police badges and blue lights! Watch out!
They were all magnetic stickers too (pretty sure lights weren't a permanent fixture either!), so I assume it could very quickly become an un-marked vehicle  |
The cumbrian peelers have been getting a couple too - followed one the other day and its the new "Bottom of the range" job - ie - midget spoiler.

North Yorks a cunning drivers too. I overtook a stream of traffic on the A59 outside Harrogate to find the front 50mph car to be the blue unmarked scoob they had.
It will be Hull, as the guy who Blunkett has just made resign, removed all special performance patrol cars. He even put a ban on chasing stolen cars over the speed limit. That was until, his own BMW was stolen! Guess the hull lads will have to be careful now, allthough i somehow feel that wont make a jot of difference to some of them. |
Harrogate dont have any speed cameras at all apparently, they rely on high performance cars to catch you.. or not catch you if your in a midly modified ;) car doing around double the limit and meet them.. :)

Theres no such thing as an FQ360 mate. Maybe at the end of the year i think mitsi will be bringing out their 380 model and naming it the VFQ380 but dont quote me on this. :D
It will be one hell of a machine if they did decide to bring it out. :D:D:D |
