Is belt on correctly
Apologies if this is posted in wrong area. I got my cambelt changed recently and am assuming that to do it the belts at the front of the engine also had to be removed. When I start up from cold I am getting a noise which I assumed was a belt slipping. I had a look but there seems to be enough tension in the belts. I noticed though that the belt at the rear (aircon I think) looks to be sitting a groove out. It's hard to explain so I took a couple of photos.

Yeah, looks a groove out to me, it's easy done but not acceptable all the same! It will be running out of line, hence the noises. I'd take it back to the garage and get them to fix it whilst you wait, 10 mins tops:)

Cheers mate. Does anybody fancy popping out and having a look at theirs to confirm it :) I think it's the aircon belt. It's a P1 if that makes any difference.

The air con compressor is on the top right of the engine(looking form the front), I'd agree with you and say that's the air con belt. The compressor will have two ally pipes around 20mm diameter going to it:)
If you loosen the pulley bolt, the horizontal one at the bottom of the pic, 12mm head (possibly 13mm) then turn the vertical one clockwise, the tension will be released form the belt. Pop the belt back into the groove and tension it back up, then just nip the pulley up again, job's a guddun:cool: Bob (11 years in the motor trade;)) |
