Track Day insurance???

Hi All,

I want to do a few track days this year so I thought I would phone my insurance people, who are direct line, they said they don’t insure for track days????

Question, can I get insured with another company for just one track day?

Thanks in advance

You should be able to purchase on-the-day cover at the track. I would speak to the Track your looking at going to for further info.

CyberScoob.

There are onlt a very few companies who will do this and it is circa £80 for £8000 cover.

I used CIG insurance services before - they were very good.

Tracks might not have insurance avaliable - mine did not.

Their number is 0870 901 3363.

I insured mine for £14000, it cost me £145 with a £1300 excess. This includes a £15 arrangement fee and insurance tax etc.

I've never heard of a track providing cover...... but then I havent been to ALL of them

Re Insurance you should typically be paying £10 for every thousand you want covering.....

Depending on how much you want to insure the vehicle for - you will probably want annual cover.... - there are several out there that do this (or at least used to) - Eggar Lawson used to be one of the better ones - dont know if they do it anymore

You could also ask your present insurance company - many will cover you but they will typically double the accident excess.....which is only reasonable

I dont get any insurance cover for the track - afterall most people are their to enjoy themselves and dont drive like idiots - you should pick a venue that doesnt allow more than 6 cars on the track at the same time (reduces the likelihood of incidents) and go with a members only type club - dont go for the crappy days like Max Power, Autocar, etc.....they are poor value for money

Invariably there will be crashes on tracks but its usually by some idiots who have no consideration for others (or themselves) on the track - sure you'll get a few people going off.......but most are harmless

If you want the fun with little insurable risk element - try some airfield days
