To save people the bother of complaining over a locked thread

Having seen the exchanges over the latest locked thread on Scoobynet (in the policy forum) it occurs to me that these situations always follow exactly the same pattern.

So to save anyone the need to ever complain about the mods locking a thread again here is a potted summary of the exchanges when you do just that.

BTW this is meant in a light hearted manner (before Redkop has a sense if humour failure ;) - still tetchy about some football championship I think :D )

OK here goes:

SN User: Why has my thread been locked?
SN Mod: Do you really need to ask? You know full well why it has been locked.
SN User: No I don't as other wise I wouldn't be asking you f**kwit.
SN Mod: Sigh... it contravened Scoobynet guidelines
SN User: Well so do a hundred other posts.
SN Mod: You've no idea what moderating a board of this size is like, now run along.
SN User: Don't patronise me ****.
SN Mod: Well my decision is final, it stays locked.
SN User: Fair enough, but you still need to explain why.
SN Mod: No I don't, I can do what the hell I want.
SN User: Well it's not right, we make this place what it is and we should not be treated like this.
SN Mod: If you don't like it go and find another board as there's plenty more out there.
SN User: Thanks for nothing
SN Mod: Moderating is a thankless task, quick to criticise, slow to praise.
SN Brown Noser: Hey leave the mods alone, I think they do a great job, this place is so cool, my mummy says I can have a Scooby when I grow up ...

Now think of all the time I just saved you :D :D

Regards,

tiggers.

You are such a trouble maker tiggers! ;)

For the record a successful appeal has been made when we got our last cat thread unlocked (albeit briefly!)

fast bloke 06 July 2004 10:36 AM

mmm - <looks for RTM button>

TelBoy 06 July 2004 10:36 AM

You forgot the usual "Why can they get away with it in Muppets?" bleat.

SomeDude 06 July 2004 10:39 AM

ajm, true, but that thread was of massive value to the community and the world in general ;)

CraigH 06 July 2004 10:42 AM

:D

Nathan L 06 July 2004 12:53 PM

LMAO @ Tiggers, that is soooooo true :D

Fatman 06 July 2004 01:33 PM

Diablo 06 July 2004 01:48 PM

Paulo P 06 July 2004 01:51 PM

Very good :D

Diablo 06 July 2004 02:02 PM

Here's the real version :p

SN User: Why has my thread been locked?
SN Mod:*thinks* oh for fcuks sake you to55er. Christ, just how thick are some of these people, but posts " Do you really need to ask? You know full well why it has been locked".
SN User: No I don't as other wise I wouldn't be asking you f**kwit.
SN Mod: *thinks* one more derogatory word out of you you c*nt and I'll vape your crap on sight but posts "Sigh... it contravened Scoobynet guidelines"
SN User: Well so do a hundred other posts.
SN Mod: *thinks* You don't say, Sherlock. I have a life you pr1k - but posts "You've no idea what moderating a board of this size is like, now run along".
SN User: Don't patronise me ****.
SN Mod:*thinks* right you c*nt. Thats it, you're getting vaped on sight. I've got more important and worthwhile things to do that fcuk about explaining myself to pond life, but (having recieved a chastising pm from the webmaster(s) for daring to upset a user thus far) posts "Well my decision is final, it stays locked".
SN User: Fair enough, but you still need to explain why.
SN Mod: *thinks* - while hitting head off wall - its true, most of the population are thick as sh1t. Getting somewhat irritated (but midful of the webmasters wrath) posts " No I don't, I can do what the hell I want".
SN User: Well it's not right, we make this place what it is and we should not be treated like this.
SN Mod:*thinks* oh, please, please, can I just post "fcuk off" just this once??? - but (having been given a public slagging by the webmaster for daring to post "I can do what the hell I want") resorts to posting "If you don't like it go and find another board as there's plenty more out there".
SN User: Thanks for nothing
SN Mod:*thinks* oh why do I bother??, and posts "Moderating is a thankless task, quick to criticise, slow to praise".
SN Brown Noser: Hey leave the mods alone, I think they do a great job, this place is so cool, my mummy says I can have a Scooby when I grow up ...

:D

Markus 06 July 2004 02:06 PM

pmsl @ D

why does "Many a true word spoken in jest" spring to mind? :D

Oh, and as one of the brown nosers, I'd like to state, for the record, that mummy did not like me having a scooby, she thought I was too irresponsible, but she had to relent as I was 26 at the time :D

Careful Redkop will lock this thread next then what will you do :D

ScoobywagonGl 06 July 2004 06:25 PM

quality :D

Markus 06 July 2004 06:27 PM

No she won't she's at Oulton, and probably can't be arsed to deal, again, with fools.

ALi-B 06 July 2004 08:06 PM

I think the mods would get alot more done if they were more abusive.

user: why has my thread been locked?
Mod: F**k Off! Your a **** go and get a life.

Job done :D

Buckrogers 06 July 2004 08:11 PM

CLASS!!!

No mods denying these thoughts....!!!

OllyK 06 July 2004 08:24 PM

The only question now is:
"Is this heading for Muppets or SN Policy"??

Soulgirl 06 July 2004 09:34 PM

If the moderators were not turning a blind eye to 70% of posts/threads on this forum, there would be a sight more locked than presently enjoyed. In respect of forums on the net in general, that have a standing in the community, this place is more relaxed than a gerbil having its tummy tickled.

I think it's time for a change.

Markus 06 July 2004 09:43 PM

As said by others before, look at the number of threads posted, vs the number of mods, and more importantly, the number of mods who are actually activley moderating for a good percentage of the time.

Mods do have lives outside SN, even if most of us don't, so can't/won't be on 24/7. It's all done off their own backs, there is no payment involved, and certainly no fame or glory in doing it, in fact, I'm pretty sure many mods feel that life is too short to put up with this crap any more.

Question about time for a change... Are you willing to put your name forward as a mod to help with the blind eyes that are being turned? Not having a go, just asking. I am happy to help out, doubt it'll happen but I've made the offer.

Suresh 06 July 2004 09:43 PM

I think its time this thread was closed.
It has served its purpose. Time to move on

I didn't take your statement as a duelling threat... yes! That is my answer... not that I could be taken seriously considering my track record over the last few days. I have been a moderator, and still am, on many other forums, and as you rightly say, people do have lives outside of the internet.

tiggers 06 July 2004 09:51 PM

Hey guys lighten up - this was only meant to be a bit of gentle humour poked at both sides (myself included).

Any more of this and I'll RTM my own thread ;) :D :D
