HI SOOB 03 July 2004 10:02 PM

Who made it to the JCMR today then??

Just back from the motorsport event of the year so far!!
Still amazed by the talent of the Irish guys on the tarmac.

Best stage by far was swinton. We were standing 200yards away from a crest near the middle of the stage where most of the cars were getting some air. Think Andrew Nesbitt takes first prize for longest/highest jump in 6th gear and almost flat out too :luxhello:
Finished of the day watching the guys start at Langton. Launches in the wet are someting else. You can feel the shock in your chest from the anti lag/launch control (when your 5 feet away from them).

Only down side was the idiots who almost got the last two stages cancelled cause they hadn't the common sense to stay off the road :cuckoo:

Over all.....AMAZING.

Makes the racing at Knockhill look like a sunday drive!!

Anyone else down and got any good pic's??

Jamie

Spooks 03 July 2004 11:05 PM

Yup me,Mrs Spooks , Dougs, Grant & Imy, Johnny( Richie, Sam and Gordy), Ian, James & Sarah were all there....Superb to see real Car control as you say makes Knockhill look very tame indeed.
Dougs, Ian and I marshalled Edrom 1 Friday night fantastic fun, and we all followed today, think we got 3 stages in
Will try and post some pics but there no good to be honest as these guys were way too quick for my poor wee camera and lack of skill using it.
Defo hooked on Rallying now though wich could prove to be an expensive hobby

Hi Grant,

The pics where taken on the top road overlooking the water splash, we also had a great view of the hill and the 90 left at the top!

Just got back 10 mins ago, went down to see 2 stages this morning, although 1st was cancelled halfway through.

Great day yesterday, apart from getting soaked. :( But...unlike Spooks...i never forgot my jacket !! :p

Got a few pics...but left me USB lead at work, so it`ll have to wait till tomorrow. :)

Dougster 04 July 2004 04:33 PM

Just in.

I'll put pics up later.

I went to the Moon and Star stage to see Jon Burn spectacularly put his 6R4 on its roof in the river!!

We all dived down to roll him over and got our feet wet. Luckily both Jon And Stan Quirk were OK.

Stage was also cancelled but the officials lost the competitors when they tried to re-route them. Confusion followed and my batteries died.

I did get to drive the stage as soon as it re-opened!!

For those that think I like to keep my car clean, wait 'till you see the state of it!!!

I was there with another 8 friends on Friday and Saturday. Got to 15 of the 23 stages over the 2 days. Media passes get you in everywhere.

Best accident was Paul Bird with the Focus. I was that close to it, he came and asked me what he'd hit. Blood great lump of concrete mate - as he overshot a corner and tried to go through a gate into a field. Totally destroyed the suspenion and steering.

Stayed at my uncles in Kelso. Very handy that he stays in the houses that overlooks the racecourse. Could see all the tents from the bedroom as the rain was battering off the window.

But it was a great event.

Dougster 04 July 2004 07:34 PM

Rain, what rain? I didn't feel a thing (not even my legs!!)

I did manage to get up in time to make stage 2 which was eventfull, if short, before it was cancelled. There was a bit of a mix up with the re-routing of the competitiors so I just headed home after this one.

Look at the times of the pics!! Jon Burn had just passed me and decided to give the car a clean. My feet were a little damp for the rest of the day!!
