Karting night - July 29th/30th -sign up here...

The last thread was getting a bit confusing, so I've started a new one...

Who's up for an evening of karting at Raceland (nr Edinburgh).

Looking at 2 potential dates : July 29th (thurs) or July 30th (fri)

It's pretty short notice so I'll need deposits pretty quickly if there is enough interest, but I'm trying not to clash with the SIDC event in August.
So who's up for this ? Please post interest and prefered day below. If you can do both days but prefer one - say so to give me some flexibility.
This event will be on the INDOOR track as the SIDC one will be outside.

Cost will be £35

Full event description from the raceland website :

Each driver will compete in a practice session followed by 4 heats and a semi-final, with the top drivers going through into a Grand Final, racing for a podium finish with prizes for the top drivers. The event should last 2 - 4 hours depending on group size.
On arrival you will sign on and pick up your top quality CIK approved racewear, helmets and gloves. You will then attend a full safety briefing, covering racing techniques, driver safety, and track procedures. The latest high tech computerised lap timing, relays race information via track side monitors, and keeps you informed of your fastest laps and leaderboard positions.

Sign up !! :)

Need to make a decision soon on this, so can everyone please confirm they're definitely up for it, and post how many peeps. Decided to go for the Friday, as it seems to suit the majority better.
New names obviously welcome, as we're still well short of the required 20.

Dave, What would the start time be?
How long to travel from Dundee to Raceland at that time of night?
Cheers
Daz

kart_man 13 July 2004 02:32 PM

Not sure how long from Dundee, but it's about 20-25 mins from Gyle. They usually quote "6:30 for 7:00" as the start time, so as long as you're there around 7, you should be fine. It's likely to be a smallish group so we might get away with a slightly later start if that's too early for anyone.

Bee 13 July 2004 09:11 PM

Daz from Fife it's about 1hr 10min at tops, if thats any kind of a gauge for you?

Big Daz 19 July 2004 07:43 AM

Dave, Is this still on for the 30th?

kart_man 19 July 2004 10:47 AM

The date is still available, but I'll need more than 9 names :( . Going to ask a few of the guys at my work if they're up for it and will decide later today.
If all the above could also confirm, as I've not heard anything for a few weeks. Also, let me know if you can bring any mates along to bump the numbers up.

Cheers

Dave
