Strange smell when reversing
 

Got the car back from its 20k service last week. Everytime i reverse Theres a very strange smell about. It's very strong and hard to describe, only happens when reversing.

Any ideas?

Quite common when the cars are new, but disappears as the clutch beds in. Of course they may have spilt oil on the exhaust somewhere?

The clutch on my MY99 always stank like hell when reversing, especially when doing so uphill. Luckily there aren't many hills here in Holland so it was never a big issue... :)

I have a similar smell bit like sulphur. Garage says it is from the sulphur in petrol and always happens when you reverse ??????. How can it be the clutch if it does it first thing in the morning.
