What happens in your thirties?

Oh Eck - less than forthnight left of my twenties - Whats going to happen to me when I hit the big THREE OHHHHH?

There's talk of pipe and slippers as a present of the parents (cheeky buggers!! :D)and the missus wants to trade the scoob in for a volvo estate!! :o
Will I get funny looks in nightclubs and find myself scanning the argos catalogue for a nasal hair trimmer?? <gulp>

Any words of reassurance from our thirty somethings on here? PLeeaasseee!!!!

NotoriousREV 23 June 2004 06:50 PM

Beer gut grows, the last of your hair falls out, you start watching Gardeners World and teenage girls no longer find you attractive.

Happy Birthday

REV (29)

Apparition 23 June 2004 09:10 PM

My 53rd this year and I feel more confident, happier, in touch and etc etc than ever before............ things don't bother you so much when you get older.

paulr 23 June 2004 09:23 PM

Everything gets better as you get older,.......except other people's attitude towards your age.

J4CKO 23 June 2004 10:07 PM

I have enjoed the first three years of my thirties more than my twenties, I think I suit being old !

Twenties are overated, to much pressure to conform and be trendy, in your thirties you loosen up a bit, know your own mind and dont worry about teenage girls finding you attractive, you worry about the wife seeing you within 200 yards of teenage girls.

The trainess at work take the p1ss because I am so old (? at 33 ?) so I point out that at 21/22 they know nowt, dont have a a 250 bhp car or a 450 grand house and have to pay 1300 quid to insure a Polo and worry about getting a shag in the next decade, plus (and this really winds them up), I point out that they possibly might not make it to 33 given the ammount of booze they put away every weekend.

David Lock 23 June 2004 11:04 PM

Apparition - well your still a youngster.... 30's - so long ago I can't remember. Oh and BTW Volvo estates can be quite useful (if ugly) :D

Jerome 24 June 2004 12:02 AM

What happens in your thirties?

Your dinkle falls off...

Heart Attack at 35.
Don't know if this is any help, but my gf's grandfather had several big heart attacks when he was 58. He's now 84 and still dodging coffins rather well.

Cheeky bl00dy whipper-snapper!! ;)

Nothin' wrong with getting older and talking sense, like I do!

When you're young (under 40) you talk such a complete load of old twaddle that its difficult to live life ........ get a bit older and words of wisdom start springing forth (without fear of kiddies taking the pee)

Getting old is great, you just give up caring and thats such a nice place to dwell! :D

You'll go to sleep 29 and wake up 30 - that's pretty much it.

Unless you die in your sleep :0

HTH. :)

zoog 24 June 2004 08:29 AM

back trouble starts - no more weights in the gym

weight gain on body

hang overs terrible last for 3 days

start fancying women in their 40's

earnings rise very considerably but so does stress

sense of "what 's the bloody point to it all" is only partially offset by advent of fatherhood

cannot understand modern loud amplified popular music's attraction to youngsters

Suddenly hate going to nightclubs whereas lived in them during 20's - see above re music and also cant stand the crowds and queues.

develop a keen interest in gardening

24 June 2004 08:31 AM

It's just a state of mind mate ... :D

I'm 32 .. feel fitter than I was at 21 (Uni days ... small guinness beer belly), much more laid back and learned that as long as I'm happy I don't give two hoots what anybody else thinks (that took me quite a while).

Only downsides is I'm starting to go grey (missus says distinguished) and the old nasal hair needs trimmed sometimes .. hahahaha.

It's more fun really, I answered our door last week just changed after a shower, had on my usual skate/boardy type clothes and was asked if my mum or dad was in :D ... hahahaha .. 'I am the dad you pillock' was my answer.

Just enjoy it :)

Doofus.

awd wrx 24 June 2004 08:37 AM

Doofus , cheeky feckers these collecting for the blind arn't they :D

Scoobychick 24 June 2004 09:28 AM

You mean some men still find us fortysomethings attractive? There is hope, god bless you ;) :D

fast bloke 24 June 2004 09:28 AM

You start to earn enough to get all the things you needed 10 years ago to impress the girlies - unfortunately you are now loking at the girlies mums as possible victims :D

You worry about all the abuse you have given your body cos you realise that you have used up nearly half of your lifetime not looking after it

You join the gym after a long absence - you give up after 3 weeks cos you can't get the weights past your belly

You suddenly start to expand outwards alarmingly quickly, even though you now eat better and drink less than you did for a decade

Actually - it isn't really that bad - I think you are only as old as you believe you are - I still think I'm 20 :D

Faire D'Income 24 June 2004 09:56 AM

It's purely a state of mind but I do feel sorry for those who've managed to convince themselves that their lives are over - it depends on what you make it.

Personally, the thirties have been the best so far. I've got the money that I didn't have in my twenties to do more or less what I want without feeling the need to conform. I've got some great toys to play with and the time to do it and at my age I've still got a body that doesn't collapse after a bit of exercise plus you know your own mind.

It helps not having kids I suppose, so we can pretty much do as we please and if given the chance I wouldn't want to return to being a twentysomething.

Enjoy yourself.

jasey 24 June 2004 12:11 PM

If you do go to Nightclubs there is a very real danger (happened to one of my Pals in Elgin) That the Young girls you chat to (notice not chat up anymore) will end up being the daughters of your School Friends - Scary  .

ps My Pal still has nightmares about the moment the Girl said "You must know my mum xxxx then ??" ;):D

I blame the cats.:D

30's is superb, all the drivel in here about not being fancied by younger girls is nonsense. If you are ugly then there's no chance at any age of course!!

I find younger girls love the "older" man and the older ladies love the "younger" man.

Best of both worlds I reckon.

30's, a proven winning formula.:D
