I have the TDi one.
Its plastic and you need to get it covered, at extra expense.
I have Exhaust Temperature Guage, Boost Guage and Oil Temp Guage.
Guages are analogue and match main console.
But, as said it aint cheap.
110 sovs for the pod and then the price of having it covered.
BUT IT LOOKS GREAT ... Still Smiling !

Thanks Guys....will try MRT and Scoobysport...Don't need the carbon look...want it to match the std Grey colour..
Now I am thinking maybe 45mm gauges instead..

I am getting a 52mm boost dial and have fashioned a double-bay mounting bracket and leather covered fascia myself from plastic and metal brackets. Dead easy to do. I will have my dial mounted below the head unit, maybe with a clock as well (did you know there aint a clock in a MY94 WRX??). To do this I had to lose the ashtray/lighter section.

I like the sound of a pod to replace the cubby hole thing on top of the dash. Which do peeps think is best (which gauges and pod makes / types etc) how much, from where and how much to get fitted ?

Questions, Questions, Questions what is a BBS for ?

firefox 10 January 2000 09:33 PM

Howdy...

Subaru Compass pod.... 57 quid I think (cant remember)..Available from a dealer.. make a fascia up (cost me about 5 quid)... can take either two or 3 46mm gauges...

Its what I did... lol

Oil temp.. oil pressure and EGT...

I have my boost elsewhere... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Where did you connect the Oil Temp Gauge up to in the engine bay, and is it an easy job. I have a UK model.

Thanks Davie

Ahh.. the question everyone asks... lol

Its bloody difficult...

The best place is in the sump...

You could get a gauge take off pipe adaptor.. and fit in in an oil pipe.... just trying to think if there is an oil pipe... I cant presently think of any...so forget that idea... lol

The sump it is..

Mines in the sump too.
How long should/does it take for the oil to 'heat' up?
ScoobyMania do a similar pod to the one I got from TDi [still waiting for my Samco hoses but its only been 10 months].

Bajie 12 January 2000 01:58 PM

Sorry, forgot main point. See if you can get guages that face the driver and not the middle of the car!

Firefox,

How about putting the sensor in-line with the Oil Cooler feed? I suppose you'd need an aeroquip fitting or two, but it should work.

This pre-supposes you have an oil cooler fitted, but by the time you are that interested in the oil-temp, you will probably already have a cooler fitted! Isn't that right, J?

Moray..

You amaze me at times... you work for the MI5 ? source of all info ? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

There arent any oil feeds as standard... the pipes you see above the oil filter are water pipes for the cooler...

All the oil system is enclosed in the engine.. and not easily accessable.

Even with an oil cooler.... I would still say the oil temp sensor would be best in the sump...

I wouldnt "t" into the oil cooler system..as that is only used once the stat opens (assuming you use a stat) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Its not too difficult to fit in the sump.. but its not a DIY job... But that depends on what you class as DIY.. lol
