New EBC discs & pads - problem ?

For classic

Bought a set of front EBC discs and red stuff pads and decided to fit these on the week-end.

Drivers side done with no problems. However, the passenger side, I do have a problem. The new disc is in place but I am unable to get the calliper back on. I stripped it down to investigate and I have discovered that there is no room in the calliper for the new disc . The pots are pushed all the way back as far as they go, but thats not the problem side. Its the other side of the calliper, or the non moving part of the calliper.
Its like, the new pad is too thick. Is there a left and right side to the pads ? How come the other side went on with no trouble ? I have measured both discs for thickness and they are both the same. Discs are on correctly - ie, their installed on their right sides in the correct rotation.

Anyone else had problems with these or can anyone shed some light on the situation.

This is a picture of the "good" side.

the "non moving" part of the caliper is the problem i should think as it should MOVE..........................
the whole purpose of this set-up is that the outer carrier should "slide" and provide equal(ish) pressure between the inner and outer pads................

strip and clean - re-grease, you will poss. need new seals also.................

I had a similar problem and it was just a case of getting a little brutle with the pots on the inner part of the caliper...they should depress!

You need to check that the lower caliper piston has not seized in the caliper.
It's the one where the lower retaining bolt goes, if it is not free then the caliper will be off center.
