1/4 mile time for a Type R
What sort of time should I expect standard Type R with a de-cat exhaust to run a quater mile in??
|
Low to mid 13's.

I agree with simb2 mid 13's
|
would have tough it would be a little lower than that as they do 0-100 in about 11.5 and would imagine its terminal speed to be around 110+mph
|
My reasonably modded Version 5 Type R (Genuine 320bhp (250@wheels)/310lbft would consistantly hit 13s flat at Santa Pod with terminal speeds of between 105-108mph.
Made it do high 12s on occasions but everything needed to be 100% for that, I would say a standard one would do mid 13s or so. |
ok i'm wrong:D:D:D
|
What about a Type R with GEMS and VF22 and 3" Dp decat and exhaust and K&N Panel filter and uprated Fuel Pump and REG. Any ideas.
|
probably the same as 5 type r's but then i'll be wrong again:D:D:D

God I would be happy with that Mike. LOL
|
I've just bought a V5 type r and I'm intending to do 1/4 mile days with it. The guy I bought it off of said he did a 13.09 and it was near standard at the time.
What are you guys setting the centre diff at to get the best results? Have only tried one launch so far with the diff wide open and had mega wheelspin so I'm guessing theres a better way to go? |
I got a GEMS seni actvie diff controller so it automatically moves the pwoer forward the more power thats developed. Plus I got my turbo today now just need it fitted and mapped.
|
any idea what sort of 1/4 mile times a sti type uk (o4 reg) run??
|
If its a brand spanking new and it was mine would take me about 30 mins to avoid the stone chips and the engine going bang LOL
|
Loz, i ran my UK03 WRX last time at the pod and got 13.98, i very much doubt that the STI would be THAT much if any quicker at all. My reason for saying this is that
a) one more gearchange (potentially) b) 95kg more weight c) mine was RR'd at 248bhp then 252bhp so its a goodie for a WRX ;) given that a UK STI is supposed to be 261bhp (unless yours in PPPd??), given that the extra weight would more than cancel it out i would expect you do get a very low 14/high 13 if you got a "good one" Cheers, Neil. |
so a type r is quicker than an Sti.....surely that cant be right.....I have raced type R's in my old cossie and beat them all by miles.......wierd.
|
I bet your cossie could kill an sti8 aswell as the Type R if I am right is designed to be a lightweight car and has a short ratio gearbox. Plus my Type R is running 305bhp and 305lbft which if you got a good combination of bhp and lbft then you got a better chance added with the lightweight construction then should be slightly quicker. Only way to find out is to put it on a strip and do some accurate measurements.
|
A type-r IS an STI though....and more importantly its about 200kgs lighter with more power (being jap spec). I know there were a few WRX Type-Rs though, i.e. non-STI versions but still weight reduced.
The new STIs are fairly heavy and if its a UK car will only have 261bhp compared to 280+ for a japspec STI (even though they are all booked as 276) Neil. |
Loz, if your going to the pod on sunday, let yourself be known to me and ill go up against you in my WRX.....see if you get an idea. :)
Neil. P.S. even thuogh my 4th gear is narked! |
Loz are you sure your not talking about a Civic? and thats not meant to be derogatary....but i was confused before somebody pointed out that Subaru did a Type-R too!!
please dont take that the wrong way!! Neil. (cowering in the corner) |
well confused....never realised that subaru did a type R.....sorry everyone for being such an idiot....I thought we were talking about integras.....I am new to Subarus and have just made a complete prat out of myself!!!!!
But yes.....my cossie would have slaughtered my type 8 but the type 8 (in my opinion) looks great and drives really nice too!!! |
hmm!
Looks like you've still got a way to go to beat 12.02 (my old car!) but that was with my brother driving!
