Has a number plate been issued?

I wasto find out if a number plate has been issued, and I was wandering if anyone knows where I could check?

I know NewReg.com does a "was it issued" service, but half of the plates I've had on my old cars come as as not being issued so I don't know whether is very good.

The plates I'm interested in are:

AJD 2X (really want this one)
X2 AJD
ADX 2
2 XAD

Can anyone help??

Thanks.

Well it turns out I haven't logged on since 2009 - that's parenthood for you!

Picking up this thread again - I managed to secure AJD 2X from a DVLA auction shortly after this post

As this was purchased for my son's 18 birthday, I'm now trying to obtain X2 AJD which is (almost) the reverse for me. I can tell from the Government's website that this is on a 2000 yellow VW Beetle convertible that hasn't been taxed or MOTd since 30 November 2016, so it's probably rotting in some garage or front lawn.

Can anyone help me track down the owners of this plate so I can approach them with a cash offer - don't want the car but I'll happily take it for the plate alone.

Thank you.

Can you not write to DVLA, what you're looking is a genuine reason for contact.
The only other option I can think of is asking the police.

It’s not as simple as just tracking down the car in question and buying it for the plate. If the car was SORN’d before it was out of date for MOT you stand a chance. The DVLA changed how plate transfer works to prevent people buying cars from breakers etc just to get their hands on a specific plate. I have just gone through this process to take a cherished plate off one of my vehicles that HAD been SORN’d prior to the MOT expiring. I was informed if the car had not been SORN’d the car in question would need to be re-MOT’d before the plate could be transferred off it. This was in the last 3 weeks. It is worth passing this info on if you have friends with cherished plates on vehicles that may never see the light of day again as they could lose the reg completely! A registration mark can never be reissued if the vehicle ceases to exist, you cannot just approach the DVLA and ask them to pass it on as the original vehicle no longer exists. In short, the car dies, so does the reg. could be a terrible shame if someone spent good money on a plate and could lose it by lack of knowledge. This info came direct via phone from the DVLA on the 26th of last month when my vehicle was sold and cherished plate removed.

I waited for wo11ett to come out and it never did.
I contacted DVLA who released it to an auction where I bid and won.
the kicker is you run the risk of others bidding on it but if you want it you'll pay for it.
luckily I was the only bidder.
message them on facebook
