I will bear this in mind. Tell me, did you have to chase the badger around 'till it got tired or was it a kamakasi (not too sure of the spelling, should ask someone with a Mitsi EVO i suppose)badger?

Strange as it may seem you got away quite likely - i remember reading another roadkill post 'bout a fox - this poor bu**ger shot up the air intake and took out the A/c rad, front b/per and fog light amonst other bitz.

You should mention it to the local police that they can eliminate it from their enquiries.

The ****ers who bait them dump them by the side of the road to make it look like road kill.

I think you are supposed to call Badger rescue if you hit one on the road....

so they can keep tabs on the numbers.

I know they're solid things...once wrote off a Renault 14 TL (or something horrid like that) hitting one.

i think it was a kamikaze badger. it waited until i was all of 20 yards away before making a break for it.

i don't know. young animals these days: if it's not train dodging or tube surfing, it's playing chicken with a car...

from a welfare (!) point of view, i put it out of it's misery on the spot with a four wood.

getting dark, pissing down with rain, hazards on, boot open, marching about brandishing a golf club. christ knows what other drivers were thinking.


anyway, first time i've played with anything but my irons all year.

Once hit a sheep about 3 years ago, when i used to drive like a nutter. Lets just say that the speed with which i hit the dam thing was in the 3 figure area. The sheep blew up, and so did my car. Luckily enough i walked away, which was the only thing i could do, because my car would'nt have been able to go anywhere.

I would keep this one quiet. Admitting to chasing and killing a badger would now be enough for you to be put on the anti-hunting brigade's hit list.

How far did you have to chase it before you managed to bag it. My record is 1/2 mile.

I was just saying to the wife the other day that I've never seen a live badger out where we live. I think I know why: it's those underground Scooby badger-baiting hunts.
What do you do, show them P1 brochures and preview videos until they start scurrying along the road, looking for a dealer before you chase them down?!

Ps. I know the poor badger died and its a shame , personally anyone who hunts them should be put in a pit with a couple of Pi***d off grizzly bears and given a cardboard shield to protect themselves...


I actually saw a badger by the road in th e borders on the A1 , big hard beasts i wouldn't want to hit one ,it would probably think it had something in its ear ,with how thin the body work is.

1/2 a mile. crikey. sounds like you needed some hounds to help out. i didn't have to go far. the impact (55mph) knocked it 60 yards up a wet slippery road, where it remained.

i was out with an old work mate yesterday. he hit a munkjack deer last year in similar circs - they're about the size and build of a springer spaniel - in a merc SLK kompressor. whole new bumper assembly and one headlight pod.

another old mucka - this is about 1995 - hit a royal deer round the back of the great park at windsor in a small nissan at night. his car was wrecked and the deer had to be put down by a vet. really traumatic stuff. being a royal beast and all, he had to report it to the bizzies too.

the worst one i've ever come across was when i was at school. the mum of one of my friends was driving out of butlers marston one evening in a one of those tough old subaru pick-ups (she was a farmer). don't know if anyone knows butlers marston in warwickshire but it has a very short but steep up/down hill on the outskirts of the village where visibility is poor. she came over the brow, into the dip and hit a horse that had got through the roadside fence. no warning, nowhere to go. killed the horse, mangled the Scoob and put it in the ditch side on. a sharp edge on the body work (it was a genuine "working vehicle") decapitated the horse and the head came straight through the windscreen into the passenger seat. made the stratford herald, the lot. that would have given me nightmares for sure...
