Yay - got caught speeding today.....at last!

Well, it happens to the best of us!

I use this road at least twice a week and always slow down to 30mph, however today for what ever reason I thought it was a 40mph limit......"flash"

Oh well..............

Dave

NotoriousREV 05 June 2004 10:19 PM

How many schoolchildren did you kill, you dangerous nutter?

Chip 05 June 2004 10:33 PM

Next time do it while drunk. Youll be OK then;)

Chip.

jameswrx 05 June 2004 10:39 PM

:D

PMSL...

Makes a change from the usual "I never speed" line that every other driver caught seems to come up with I guess... ;)

Bugger - NIP came through today.

Apparantly I was only doing 35 - a bit harsh don't you think!

Oh well £60 and three point down.

SomeDude 11 June 2004 08:44 AM

That's a downright criminal speed :D

prodriva 11 June 2004 08:46 AM

Wait till you inform your insurance about the SP30. You wont be smiling then or for the next 3 years or for however long they stay on a license these days. And then you have to pay to have them removed.

I doubt for someone of my senior years it will make that much difference - although I have 2 insurers to tell.

I'll still be smiling though, I am sure a SP30 is easier on my wallet than the IN10 I had before!

Dave

prodriva 11 June 2004 08:56 AM

Whats an IN10 out of interest???

ProperCharlie 11 June 2004 08:57 AM

SP30 never made any difference to my insurance.

davyboy 11 June 2004 08:57 AM

Driving without insurance - arrest me ;)

MattW 11 June 2004 08:59 AM

Davyboy

The guys over at Peipoo.com would be interested in that NIP as it falls within the threshold laid down by ACPO, 10% +2. The authorities continually insist they adhere to ACPO set guidlines.

Outrageous speed

You do realise that - should you have been driving a 1970's repmobile with no ABS and stamped on the brakes locking the wheels and not even attempted cadence braking - that it woould have taken you approximately 4.5miles longer to stop than it would have if you'd been doing the responsible speed of 30?

Disgraceful.

paulwrxboro 11 June 2004 09:32 AM

IN10 driving when banned

Nat 11 June 2004 09:47 AM

35 in 30? I thought northants police just sent you to a speed workshop for that, anything upto 35 or 37 i thought??? Thats what two people i know got....

Guess they're being extra (untish now :(

Peanuts 11 June 2004 09:55 AM

I thought that acpo guidelines are 10% +2 for a conviction thereby making it a sound one.
there are two other things to take into account.
a) if you are below then the magi will simply say "they are only guidelines" w4nkers
b) were you caught with a gatso or a hand held laser device (commonly lti20/20)?
it is more important than you may think ;)

Redkop 11 June 2004 09:59 AM

Usually SP30s make no difference to your insurance and you don't have to let them know until next renewal time.

prodriva 11 June 2004 10:05 AM

IIRC you have to inform your insurance immediately just like when you move house. It is also stated in the information you get sent when your license is returned by the DVLA.

Very true re: a + b.

I was under the impression anything over 35, would be prosecuted. Hence 35 in a 30, 46 in a 40, 57 in a 50, 68 in a 60 and 79 in a 70 were all below the threshold.

Or you could just change your address for a few months while you go through a trial separation ;) Doesn't cost you a penny then :D

Maybe I've thought about things too much...

Scare tactics

Any single SP code makes no real difference to insurance costs. Even 6 points these days only adds about 10% on to the cost.

PS they stay on your license for 5 years now.

Cosworth427 11 June 2004 11:13 AM

I've been flashed a few times in the past few years, even in that Limehouse Link tunnel sporting those new state of the art cameras, never been fined at all.

I am invincible.

Lord Shrek 11 June 2004 12:23 PM

I got a ticket off northants bill. they're the worse IMHO. doing 34 in a 30 ffs.

Patt@firstime 11 June 2004 12:58 PM

Dave,

You crazy fool you!!!!!

davyboy 17 June 2004 08:46 AM

Well, the flood gates have well and truly opened now..........

23:15 last night I just so happened to get caught doing 90 on the M11 ( I went this way to avoid the speed camera's on the A14  )

So another 3 points and another £60 fine.

cooont

Neanderthal 17 June 2004 08:52 AM

lol so those speed cameras are working as a speed deterant then ;)
Unlucky mate :( :(

TelBoy 17 June 2004 08:59 AM

Lock him up and throw away the key. *Obviously* hasn't learnt his lesson...

;)

Senior_AP 17 June 2004 09:17 AM

Davyboy failed to mention that he was pulled over by two women coppers!! lol.

Bored lesbians decided to pick on a lonely old git merely carressing the inside lane at 90mph.

Apparently they were "helping him".

Maybe he should just sit in the middle/outside lane at 70mph randomly braking/accelerating. That seems tolerated.
