WRX Engine or STI???
Hi!!
Are they any tell tale signs to determine the difference between a STI Engine and a WRX Engine? Is it true that the STI engine has a diagonal intercooler? Does the WRX engine have a straight one? Help Me Please!!! Many Thanks Si |
Main visual difference is the red inlet manifold, thats probably the easiest thing to notice:D
Also depends on the MY of the vehicle, early models had the slanted intercooler Where's GM when you need him;):D:D:D http://img21.photobucket.com/albums/...Type_R_015.jpgSTi5 |
That is what I thought about the intercoolers, the car in question is a 93 plate import. It claims to be a WRX but has a slanted intercooler, alloy bonnet, me being a Skyline chap dont know too much about scoobies, except that they are quick!!
What do you lot think then???? Si |
Most of the older scoobs had slanted intercoolers, it wasnt until later on that they changed to rectangular ones (wrx's and uk turbo's, sti's were a bit different and usually have the word STi on the intercooler ;))

You could check the vin plate and then look at the SIDC website.

If it's a 93 import i'd say it's a wrx, i'm sure the sti arrived in 94 (without the red manifold which was introduced on the v2 model, late 95)

Yup, if it's 93 it's a WRX and they have the slanty ic.

At that model year there were no STi's, and all cars whatever mo,del had the angled intercooler up to and including MY96.
