I wanna run some imbedded realmedia videos from some sites so I downloaded & installed the latest free version of RealPlayer today.
It takes up 32mb of space :eek:
Window Media Player takes up half of that space & the full version of Quicktime is less than 3mb.

Why is it so big & are there any other options?

Real Player is a horrible piece of software, but unfortunately some misguided institutions such as the BBC use it. However, last night I found Real Alternative availabe from http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/, which is a free player which will work in place of Real Player.

30MB of it is nag advertising and irritating features! :mad:

realplayer really is the hieght of crap IMO

I hate RP with a passion - damn you BBC for only streaming radio with RP :rolleyes:

me too, rp is a diabolical piece of software, I refuse to view/listen anything that asks me to download it.

I'm going to download that alternative right now!

I have used RealAlternative for over a year now and it is very impressive. Small, powerful and stable. I am sure there is a licensing query with other people making RA/RM players but perhaps this guy has found a way round that?
