Fueling Problems.....

Something seem to have messed up in my fuel system.

The fuel pump is making a hell of a racket, screaming away. The car won't idle and there is no longer any fuel on the over run.

However it still drives fine and even runs rich sitting in 5th, (I was a good distance from home when it went wrong).

The fuel pump is a walbro 255lph one and has only been in about 6months. The FPR is still oem, and the boost hose to it is ok.

The pump could just be screaming from high flow, has anyone heard of fpr's going wrong much? or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Cheers, Dave

It is not normally recommended to fit a higher capacity pump retaining the OEM FPR for the reasons below :-

Any very high flow pump can overrun the tiny stock FPR, causing the base fuel pressure to be higher, and making the fuel curve nonlinear, making the ECU's control of the fuel more difficult.
This was taken from a Walboro FAQ's

Cheers

That's probably it. Cheers.
