laser / bubblejet printers - whats the cheapest type to run?
Hi
Hopefully someone will be able to help here.. We're using bubble jets at the moment to print off delivery notes and address labels and its costing a small fortune in cartridges every month (even though all docs are on fast draft quality). So I'm thinking of buying a laser to do the same job - question is, forgetting the cost of the unit in the first place, are the less expensive to run than bubbles? Else, any other ideas ? cheers Neil |
Assuming that you're not printing colour, a laser will be cheaper than a bubblejet. A toner cartridge for mine costs about £60 and lasts for about 5000 prints, so that's 1.2p per page.

black laser printers are far from expensive.
We picked up a couple of Samsung ML1210's for £50 each. I believe Office World still have stock at £79. A new toner is £44 and prints in excess of 2000 full pages. Better still, by a toner refill kit and just drill n fill at a fraction of the cost. If you're looking for a colour laser, they can now be had for about £300. I wouldn't recommend refilling the toners in a colour though as the slightest difference in toner colour shows a dramatic deterioration in print quality. Can you not get compatible cartridges for your existing printers? They are about 25% of the price of the genuine ones. Paul |
