increasing fuel?

my94 wrx is runnig just a bar now and i really want to just run about1.1 but lots of people have told me to keep the fuel up how? cos i know there are lots of ways wat are the best!?

Fuel pump, fuel reg, air/fuel gauge, knock link and a scoobyecu 1.1 bar boost around 280 BHP :)

It's important to ensure you have enough fuel to prevent the engine running lean. This can be a problem even with a non-modified wrx (import) when they are a bit older - especially in the summer.

Most people uprate the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. This is probably a good move if you intend on future mods anyway.

The knocklink is also a good idea to ensure you aren't getting any detonation. Although there are a number of monitoring gadgets available as an alternative - such as the PSI3 etc.

You haven't mentioned if you have any other mods. If you have then what have you done?

Agree with above comments

Running Z4 ecu My95 with scoobyecu 1 Bar map. H&S system and ITG panel, made 270/234 on RR with optimax only.

More boost is not always the way

it is 280 bhp at a standard .75 with haywood and scott down pipe and straight through system wats is a regulator? and how much 4 a fuel pump and were from?

highlander68k 25 May 2004 12:27 AM

Sounds a good BHP figure. It took me a fair bit to reach that with my 94 wrx :(

A fuel pressure regulator balances the fuel pressure in the fuel system/injector rails. An uprated/adjustable one will ensure enough fuel and pressure for the injectors, coupled with a good quality/flowing (walbro?) fuel pump.

I think they are available from the scoobynet shop, and the pump can be had for around £120-130, and I can't remember how much the fuel pressure regulators are (somebody?)

You can alternatively do a search on SN for walbro and fse (for pumps) and another search for fpr to read through the posts on what these actually do in detail ;)

A fuel pressure regulator about £60 then £16 for the gauge.
A 94 wrx in standerd form is 250 bhp! they didn't get 280bhp till 1997 i think! With the haywood and scott down pipe and straight through system and a good air filter probably looking at 260-265 bhp at a guess. mine is running 1.1 bar at the min and the same set up as yours but i have the scooby ecu thats doing 280bhp two weeks fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and gauge and new clutch then the boost can go to 1.25 bar that should be 300bhp, but i might need a fuel cut defender! we'll se :D

Ive never yet got 30bhp for a down pipe and system! need to get it on on the rollers when the clutch is in i'll let you know! but if your saying 40bhp for the ecu running 1.1 bar down pipe and system 30bhp,filter 15bhp uprated fuel pump and reg 5bhp that lot with a standard 250 bhp of the car comes to a grand total of 340bhp i dont think so  maybe if you run 1.3 bar of boost.

manufacturers clams on bhp gains are just to get more sales i think anyway :)

edmy716 25 May 2004 06:33 PM

how much was your clutch and which one is it?

JOHNSTI 25 May 2004 06:42 PM

Not sure of the make but it just a standard one £250+fitting its costing me £500 for the clutch fuel pump and reg with gauge all fitted :)
