I've got a MY93 WRX. the ICE unit is a Japanese unit with the different FM range. Also, the CD doesn't work - which is annoying when most of my sounds are on CD.
I'd like to replace the whole thing with a UK FM friendly unit. I also can't be bothered with boot CD changer stuff. I would like it to fit into the current space for the stereo. I'm also totally incompentent when it comes to anything remotely electrical, so I would need it fitted by someone who knows what they are doing. I also don't want to spend a shed load 'cos I'm a heathen when it come to ICE and don't care that much for sound quality/number of knobs/gadgets/features etc. Anyone know of a cheap, easy, replacement for the sh*te I currently have? If you want to save money you can always get an FM expander put in so that the radio will pick up al UK FM stations. |
It should be fairly straightforward to swap the unit you have in there with a new one. What brand of system is currently in the car? |
Most dealers will fit a head unit for you if you buy one off them (usually free too, it's not a complicated job). I think even Halfords were offering free fitting on anything over £150 or something (though they usually seem a bit pricey to me).

Even Argos offer free installation. Go to a decent car hifi place and they won't damage the car or the system while putting it in. Plus they are usually cheaper and have a better range of systems that Argos, Halfords, etc. |
Jerome,
Get urself down to Ian Bannings in the Riverside Business Park in Guildford, basically the red/grey buildings about 1/2 mile down the road the main entrance to Guildford station is on... they are used to scoobys and wont rip you off... they've done 3 cars for me already and are just starting my new one!..
