CTR - fuel figures

Ok then - thinking of swapping the wifes focus for Civic Type R - whats the real line of their fuel consumption.

According to the typeR website they say 31.7 combined - does any have any emperical evidence of this ?

Shes not heavy footed and gets 34.4 (according to computer) out of her 2Litre focus; when she drives my scoob she consistently gets 29 mpg !!! :D:D:D

Thanks Guys

Ive changed the sheet to add in the average - that how I do it on my scoob.

I've got a geeky spreadsheet too. Can't post it from here, but over 16 months I've averaged around 34mpg (or about 8.25l/100km as we count things here). I've had it up to 39mpg but that was an exercise in extreme self-restraint :)

Civic Type R 20 May 2004 12:33 PM

I get about 300 miles from full tank ( circa £38 until recent hike) :)

Looks correct mate except you've got the number of litres wrong in a gallon.

It's 4.546 not 4.454 :D

There is an Average function in Excel but what you've done is good too.

Trumble 20 May 2004 12:51 PM

I usualy multiply by .2199 instead !

My CTR' s done 17k so i suppose it's just about run in and i average 30-35MPG mainly driving B roads. MUCH less if u give it 6000 RPM on a regular basis!

I get 26 mpg from my Fiat Coupe Turbo, its worth the extra to leave CTR's gasping....

Dave, true but I couldnt really comment until I have had it a year or two, bargains can turn out to be money pits !

Dont really think its greatly quicker than a CTR, yet, chip is on its way (30 quid) and apparently a decat does wonders for the already impressive low down grunt.

Had a fun blast with a 360 Spider the other night, obviously I got wasted but he had to work hard !

Only had my CTR about a month so it's still getting driven "enthusiastically" most of the time, but I am still averaging upper 20's to the gallon, around 27-28mpg for general daily use. Only done one decent long run on it, but even then I wasn't hanging about and got 34mpg, so not too bad.

Had a Clio Cup before this and that was fantastic on fuel though, and I knew the CTR would never match it...

FWIW I've had to keep mileage (/mpg) records for all the cars I've owned and claimed business miles on. For me driving, it usually always works out the same for the average mpg:-

Official Combined figure less 10% = my usual average MPG

It sounds like she isn't getting the full use out of the cars, especially 29mpg in a Scoob! :D

If she doesn't drive them like they are meant to be driven then why not splash the cash on a better looking but perhaps, not as capable car than the Civic?

No point spending £16k on car plus high-ish insurance to drive everywhere at 2k rpm.....

What a waste of that wonderful V-TEC! :D

All IMHO of course...:)
