Some Photos of my 430 BHP 993 Twin Turbo
Having enrolled with Photobucket.com, I have attached below, some recent photos of my 993 twin Turbo at a "Quarter mile" event at Edzell near Aberdeen.
Both I and my 19 year old son did 2 non clutch destroying runs each to stretch the car's legs!. It really flew after very normal start "off the line". http://img66.photobucket.com/albums/...Qtr_Mile_1.jpg http://img66.photobucket.com/albums/...an/Edzell2.jpg http://img66.photobucket.com/albums/...man/Edzell.jpg http://img66.photobucket.com/albums/...an/Turbo-6.jpg |
I didnt overtake you round the Nurburgring in my 205 the other day did i mate??? :D
|
Not me. Edzell is far enough for me at the moment. Would like to take it round the Ring sometime though.

Only joking with ya mate coz i posted a video on here of me overtaking a porker identical to yours 2 weeks ago round the ring and got slated coz no-one believed it could have happened.
I think they thought i was more of a faker than the mirror editor |
I do not doubt you as you may be a very good driver relative to the guy in his Turbo.
I am getting long in the tooth now, but many years ago when I did a fair bit of motorsport I was amazed at the ability of some very good drivers in not so fast cars to keep up with or overtake supposedly far superior cars. Any track with good corners and the driver has a major influence on the outcome.

So true, the driver and the tyres make the biggest difference, espeacily at the Ring.

Dave,
great pics - I have a lowly 993 Carrera Varioram - but a lovely day to day drive :D What times did you manage on the quarter - I was doing 13.5s in mine on a damp day - which was the same as I got with my STiV when it was standard! Rannoch :D |
love 993's... my scoob will be replaced by one next year :D
|
Dave, car is looking sweet, i think i saw you cruising past the other day. I emailed you a week or two ago but i don't know if i got the right address. wouldn't mind going for a spin!!! ;)

Nice car Dave - I'll keep an eye out for you around the town, so if you see an old Jag waving it's me ;)
|
Very nice, lovely and black :D
did you record your times ? |
Thanks for kind comments. We did get an idea of times which were 13.4 at 111 for me and 13.5 at 110 for Paul (my son). We both were under strict guidelines to drive off the line easily and then give it some stick. Hence the poorish times linked to reaction times of nearly a second. Car was flying once it got into it's stride.
Whoever e mailed me locally, drop me another line and we will fix up a spin. |
Dave, looks like you're having fun with the Porker but as you say you're getting a bit long in the tooth which concerns me when you mention your 19 year old son driving the car.
Surely, you're not that long in the tooth that you don't remember what 19 year olds are like with cars? I seem to remember spending as much time visiting the scenery as I did on tarmac, which in retrospect was a good thing as I'd had all my crashes before my fledgling motorsport career. :D |
