Hello
I recently installed a new alarm in my MY99
Impreza
Standard stuff until I got to the remote central locking part :/
According to the alarm installation manual there are 3 or 4 possible different types of central locking systems
positive impulse....negative impulses...and 2 others i can't think of at the mo..
Problem is I don't know which type the impreza uses...Does anyone have an idea which type it is????
Any help would be mucho appreciated!!!

NAF,

Word of warning... DON'T wire your alarm's outputs directly to the car's wiring! I did and blew up the c-locking control circuit (thankfully I managed to repair it rather than having to pay Subaru prices for a new one!).

What you need to do is fit a mechanical solenoid/actuator to the door-opening rods inside the driver's door. It's a two wire device, and you connect this directly to your alarm (i.e. there's no electrical connection between your alarm and the car's wiring loom). The alarm should be wired/configured for "slave motor/actuator".

So, pressing the "open" button on your keyfob will activate the new solenoid/actuator. This unlocks the drivers door (mechanically), which in turn in turn unlocks all the other doors.
