I have just upgraded my Headlight Bulbs to PIAA H4 Super White 115/110 which are a massive improvement over the standard bulbs, add to this my PIAA Driving Lights and night driving down country lanes is an absolute pleasure.
However the side lights are a horrible yellow colour compared to the main headlights. Can these bulbs be replaced with hight wattage / White bulbs ? I was watching the Monte Carlo Rally and Richards Subaru had White Headlights and White Sidelights so bulbs must be available. |
Wierd thing is I changed one of my sidelight bulbs with a bog-standard Halfords one when the original went a few weeks ago, and it was noticeably whiter (and brighter) than the remaining, original sidelight. Dunno if the original has "yellowed" over time (2 years) of if they are just nasty yellow bulbs to start with.

Bear in mind that the reason the sidelights are low wattage is that they are used as parking lights, so they have to be able to stay on for extended periods of time (overnight?!) without draining the car's battery beyond the point of starting the engine!

To uprate the sidelight bulbs try bulb 901, this is a capless 10W bulb from a supplementary brake light. The envelope of the bulb is larger than the 501 it replaces and it just fits into the lamp housing.
Prepare to be dazzled.......... |
