60k service

MY 02 WRX is about to hit 60k (!!!!). I had cambelt changed at 50k so it shouldn't be a fortune, should it?

As it will be exiting warranty 16 months early [:-)] is it a sensible option to go to an indy or should I stick to main agent for the next 200k? Any suggestions near Oxford or 50 miles around?

Cheers!

Mike

I'm in the same situation Mike - my MY01 will hit 60K very soon. I went to XtremeScoobies to have the 50K cambelt service (which they did at a very good price), so I will be taking the car back there for the 60K shortly. As you say, the 50K is a big service, so the 60K is I believe classed as a normal interim - usual fluid changes etc, so it shouldn't be too bad on the wallet. I think the spark plugs get changed as well, so that will add a bit. Now the car is out of warranty and I probably won't extend it I will goto Xtreme Scoobies as they are quite local to me and do as good a job as the main dealer.

Thanks Chris! You don't have a URL for them do you?

BTW, I asked about extended warranty and was quoted about 700 for 2 years unlimited mileage. As I've got de-cat and Eibach's etc I bet the moment I made a claim it would be rejected! Shame, with the way I rack up miles it could be quite handy ;-)

Mike - I think they might be too far away from you? But their website is here. I've got semi decat and Eibachs, so again, I would be in a similar position re warranties. I'm not intending to keep it that long, so it wouldn't make sense for me.

Actually it is more than I thought - around £400 :( It includes air filter, fuel filter, plugs, oil filter, sump washer, rear diff fluid, brake fluid, oil, & gearbox. Normally takes around 3 hours.

Thanks for the link Chris! It's quite a distance, would add nearly 300 miles to my car! I'll check to see if Powerstation are able to do the service but last time I enquired they were not very familiar with the bugeye service intervals.

:-)

Although I've never used them I've heard only good things about Subaru4You. A bit closer than Essex!
