Type 25 vs Evo VIII MR FQ340

Has the world gone mad?!?! a Scooby vs Evo thread has been up for two hours without reply :eek:

Quite fancy the Type 25, but would rather have it's engine in my 22B.

For me, it'd be the T25.

As they say...'no replacement for displacement'...blah...blah...blah.

I guess the only draw back of the T25 would be the warranty. I know that it comes with an aftermarket warranty, but these are usually a bag of sh1te!
And what the fcuk is that spoiler on the T25 all about!?

I would have thought it would be a close run thing in terms of performance.
Hopefully we won't have to wait to long for one of the mags to do a comparison.

As with all evos the power quoted of 340hp/309lbs for the MR340 is probally very conservative,if a FQ330 with a de-cat puts out around 350hp,one has even made 361hp,power wise they will probally be the same,and again with the 0-60 of 4.4est,will probally be a lot nearer 4secs,so its down to choice,i much prefer the Evo now having owned a STI7PPP,and moved to a FQ300,i can honestly say the evo feels so much more sure footed on the road,and having de-catted mine,which on a evo is about £50 and doesnt involve re-maps or anything,mine is now approx 320-325hp well and truly goes like stink,noticeably quicker than my STI,the MR is a serious bit of kit and will become the market leader in manufacturers performance saloons,but as a overall package i would go for the MR320 at £29999,same price as a WR1 but no contest,both great cars but the Evo is just wicked!!,both similiar service intervals of 4500-5000 miles,in fact does anyone want to buy a 8 month old EVO8 FQ300,£25000,need the money to buy to buy a MR320!!

I've driven both a 380bhp Evo VII and the Type 25 and they both have merits in different aspects of the car. The Evo is more frantic by far and feels faster, but the Type 25 is more subtle and makes progress without a fuss unlike the Evo which IMO is a little to over the top for the daily use (not something you've not heard before about Evo's & Scoobs there though).

With the change of suspension in the Type25, it feels like a BMW in ride quality over the pot holes and delivers it's power so progressively all the way through the rev range(in terms of figures at PowerStation they've had some amazing torque ones, ranging well up in the high 300's). The Evo while feeling very together on the road in terms of grip would always over emphasise every pot hole so you can feel every last mm of it, but then you come to a corner and you seem to be able to find your limit (not the cars but yours) pretty easily, the Scooby takes a little getting used to, althought I didn't have a very long drive in it - it feels completely different to my SpecC because of this new suspension setup.

It would come down to what you want at the end of the day then, an uncompromised racey feel from the Evo, or a more day to day car which is just as happy in the town centre pulling in 6th gear doing 30mph as on the motorway at 70mph or more :rolleyes: and easily flung round the back roads as well.

For me, it'd have to be the Scoob every time - I do to much mileage to consider Evo maintenance bills again and I think I'm getting old man desease in relaxing at times behind the wheel, happy to potter along (which my Scoob will more than happily oblidge with), I'll be driving in slippers soon :D:D

I'm off to test drive an Evo, I have to see what the fuss is about. We'll see how it compares to my 310bhp V4 Type R.

It's proving difficult to get rid of. I had a deposit on a 996 (3.4 99 T) but then the sale fell through on the scoob. The guy test drove it and wanted it. He brought his girlfreind to see it, we took her out in it, she soiled herself and told him there is now way you are getting 'that car'. She was such a fish wife!! I've only had that one person come and look at it!

I have since lost 37k in a deal (could end up being more :mad: ) so the 996 is out the window.
I won't end up with an Evo, I'm just curious. Anyhow, there was no one there when I went to the Mitsi dealers! Which I found strange on a Saturday afternoon!? Not that I could afford one! My budget for a car has gone from 40k to 25k. This may even turn into 15k! If things get any worse.

I'm thinking about a 99-2000 M5, if I can get rid of the scoob and if funds allow!
I do love the scoob and won't mind if I keep it for another year or so, I'm not desperate to get rid.

Will you be attending the Scottish Open in a fortnight?

I won't be there myself, but I have four students who are traveling up to compete.
We don't normally attend any comps in Scotland with it being so far.
I'll be there for the British. I may even compete for the final time. I'm due to take my V degree as of now. If I'm still a IV then I'll do patterns, and if I can lose a few pounds I'll fight.

Cool, I'll be at the British Open too so we will possibly meet up then!

It too will probably be my last British as I am also due to grade for my 5th next September so it'll be my last chance to go out in a blaze of glory!

I won't be competing at the Scottish though as I just had shoulder surgery on Thursday to repair a recurrent TKD injury so will be out of action for quite a few months.

good job mine arrives beginning of june :)

I went out in iain litchfields sti which had the powerstation handling mods. On track at full pace I didn't experience any understeer.
